Afternoon Vjers

From what ive researched the green card process or i 485 takes up to 3-6 months , i plan on moving once my fiance comes to the states and after she settles in but after looking at it , im thinking maybe i should delay the moving and just focus on that later until she has her EAD.AP and green card all in hand.Im currently in NC and looking forward to moving to San Antonio TX or Arizona but if i have to stay longer in nc for her to get everything its worth the wait.

I know on the uscis website you can do a change of address and u have to do it within 30 days of moving, ive considered it but staying and doing everything then moving seems to be the better option

Lots of people have issues receiving USCIS mail after an address change, even though it was corrected many times, online, infopass etc.

For some it has turned into a nightmare, others have no issues.

AOS takes longer than 3-6 months, some squeeze by in 6 months but most wait 9-12 months to get the GC.

NVC Received : some dinkelsberry yehoo in the house of clingons send our petition to the wrong consulate.

Consulate Received : July 30,2014 Transfer to right embassy complete.

Interview Date : Oct 22, 2014

Interview Result : AP , requesting another PC (not expired) and certified divorce decree (was submitted)Stokes interview via phone for petitioner 4 hrs after interview.

Oct 23 email notification visa approved.
Visa Received : Nov. 3 , 2014 VISA IN HAND.

US Entry : Nov. 21, 2014

Marriage : Dec 27, 2014

AOS send : May 12, 2015, received May 14, 2015 USPS priority

Email &text : May 18, 2015, check cashed May 19,2015, return receipt May 21, 2015 stamped USCIS Lockbox, NOA1 (3x) May 22,2015

Biometrics : June 1, 2015 letter received for appointment June 8, 2015, successful walk-in June 1, 2015

RFE : June 12, 2015 for income not meeting guideline. Income does ( ! ) exceed guideline.

RFE response : June 26, 2015 returned with a boat load full of financial evidence.

UPDATE: July 5, 2015 updated on all 3 cases, RFE received June 30, 2015.

Service request : Aug 12, 2015, letter received that it will be processed within 90 days from receipt of RFE.

UPDATE: Aug 24, 2015, EAD card being produced/ordered. ( 102 days from AOS receipt day and 55 days from RFE response received.) Thank you Jesus !

Emails : Aug 24, 2015, EAD approved, EAD card ordered.

I-797 EAD/AP approval notice received : Aug 27, 2015

EAD/AP combo card mailed : Aug 27, 2015, EAD/AP combo card received: Aug 31, 2015

July 21, 2017 HOME VISIT.  Went well. Topic thread in AOS forum.
Waiting to skip ROC and get 10 yr GC due to over 2 year while pending AOS
AOS APPROVED Oct. 4, 2017 * Green card in hand Oct 13, 2017 !!!!!

First K1 denied after 16 month of AP. Refiled. We are a couple since 2009. Not a sprint but a matter of endurance.

Yes, 3 1/2 months for us for the EAD/AP. The average is 77-90 days, some a bit longer, especially with an RFE.

K-1s must marry within 90 days of entering the US. From what I read on this site, there's no deadline for filing AOS. I think you can look up for threads on similar questions. The topic is sometimes debated.

If your fiancee wants to be a resident and open a bank account etc., earlier the better.

It depends on the bank but we were refused to open joint bank account until I get driver's license.

Probably your fiancee needs EAD for driver's license.

If I were your partner I'd like you to move to your destination first and settle in, then I can come.

Just my opinion.

I guess the best thing for your fiancee is for you to discuss well with her.

right , the move isnt a required one , i just have the option to relocate within my job i just need the higher ups to give me the thumbs up , so the move is more of a want then an absolute need

If I were you I'd take a bit of time after you get married to file for AOS. Get her SS card first, that way she can open a bank account, get a credit card, etc. There's guides on here on the best way to get her a SS number.

When I moved I needed a couple months to adjust... I went through some culture shock and had a pretty hard time at first. We were married last October and filed for AOS in January. During that time I opened a personal savings and a joint account with my husband and got a Capital One credit card to start building credit. I could've gotten my driver's license in that time too but I haven't yet.

2015-03-07: Got engaged (L)

2015-03-30: Sent I-129F to Dallas lockbox

2015-04-14: NOA1 Packet received, sent to CSC

2015-05-07: NOA2 Approved!

2015-06-15: Received Packet 3 by mail

2015-06-17: Sent Packet 3 to Consulate

2015-07-14: Received Packet 4

2015-08-10: Medical in Toronto

2015-08-16: Received medical envelope

2015-08-24: Montreal interview- APPROVED!

2015-08-27: Visa arrives at Loomis location

2015-08-28: Visa in hand!

2015-09-17: Entered USA

2015-10-23: Married!

2016-01-11: Sent AOS Package I-485, I-765, I-131

2016-01-21: NOA1 Package received

2016-02-19: Biometrics

2016-04-01: AOS interview- APPROVED!
