**BUMP!**

Hi Pinky, try posting the same question in the South Asia thread, it won't get buried soooo fast. Also you can try PMing people who have already received visas through Mumbai. Good luck!

buzz..koi mumbai se nahi hai??????

:help:

Hi Pinky. We are processing K-1 from Gujarat. But, I can guide you as far as what you will need to do. As I am in US, I really don't know how much the procedure differ from one region to another. However, this is what we did and most likely will apply to you.

(1) Walk into the local police station (one that covers the area where you live) and request "Police Clearance Certificate". You will need (i) 2-Passport Size Pictures (white background - as US Embassy prefers) and (ii) your passport and driving license. Answers any questions that they might have. In Gujarat, we received the same without paying anything extra except legitimate processing fees, in 2 days.

(2) Once you receive Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) from your local police station, find out hours of operation for your Regional Passport Office. Go to Regional Passport Office, fill out application form for "Police/Passport Clearance Certificate", provide them Rs. 300 fees, 2 more Passport size pictures, your original passport and 2-photocopies of Passport, Original Packet-3 cover letter from US Consulate, along with the Local Police station clearance certificate. **We received the "Passport Clearance Certificate" within 30 minutes of application. I don't know about Mumbai.

Below is a link as far as what you will need for Mumbai Regional Passport Office. You can also download the form from the link below and fill it out before hand.

We have visa interview on 2nd April. Keeping our fingers crossed.

Wish you Best of Luck.

******Passport office will issue you 2 original certificates. One you will need to submit to VFS forehand with other documents prior to your interview as mentioned in Packet-4 and another one you will need to carry it with you to the interview (10 business days prior to your visa interview - don't include holidays, Saturday, Sunday).

******You will need to provide both local and regional passport clearance certificates in originals to the US Consulate.

We have visa interview on 2nd April. Keeping our fingers crossed.

Wish you Best of Luck.
