My fiancé (us citizen) and myself (foreigner) are getting married later this year in the US under the k1 visa . A few of our guests either have an expired b1/b2 visa or have never had one . What should a letter of invitation include ? Or would a formal invitation with their name on it suffice for them to take to the embassy ?

The formal invitation (if you have one) is fine, or a short paragraph of when the wedding is, why you want them there, and what, if anything, you will do with them (they will stay at your place, you will go visit X tourist site etc).

Keep in mind that getting the tourist visa is less about why they want to come to the USA and more about why they will return home- ie strong ties to their home country to ensure they do not overstay.

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.
