How Foreign Women View Western Men For Relationships

A fairly uncomfortable topic... lets go there! :)

If I go to the Dominican republic in the non tourist parts - and speak a little Spanish - I can go to any random club and get hit on about the same as my wife will get hit on at an average club here. My wife will never go to the bathroom and return without some woman talking to me when she comes out. In Villavicencio, Colombia I had two women start a fist fight in a mall where I was trying on pants. There is a wedding photo with my mom, sister, me, and my wife - any person living in the US would notice my wife and the rest of us are just background - she dominates the photo - anytime I've seen it being looked at in Colombia all they talk about is me, my mom, and sister and the hair and eyes.

I'm not Fabio so I'm not some exception, I know they are not seeing me - they are seeing some imagined lifestyle.

So yeah, there are countries a western guy can go to and its like being a mini rock star - the farther from the big cities you go the more you see it. Its fading and will largely be a thing of the past in the not too distant future.

Great job! A man ventured into this thread. So you like the attention you get in Columbia? Attention hogger. Lol

So what do you think the OP's problem was? Is he just obsessed with foreign women or is it true,it takes too much work to get an American wife and going overseas was easier?

I must admit, I did find dating overseas easier, but I'm a woman.

Latest news Amy Schumer thinks she is not plus size?

I did notice that US Dress Sizes are one lower.

http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/video/amy-schumer-calls-glamour-magazine-38188853

So are you saying the reason you don't like American women is because of a dress size? I'm confused by your comment

Why would Asians already in US be interested in him?

Tell him to go outside US, like original post author did.

He will be very popular, just need to flash the USA passport, women will swarm around like honey bees.

Or you can introduce some cute Nippon girls to him

So are you implying the Asian women only want men with American passports? ;-)

Did you finally discover Visa Journey?

Hahahahahaha nice one. Some of the real American Patriots on here couldn't possibly not like American women.

Of course they can. Lack of attention from American women is one of the things that led to the decline of America. But Donald Trump will fix this problem.

It is economics. Asian or generally women marry up, not marry down.

So Men from rich countries (e.g. America, Europe) is a pull factor.

Hence, the term mail order bride.

Ha! Thanks.. So no on the Colombia, my first visit there was to get married. I actually met my wife in a bar in another country and she returned home after we dated a while so we could get married and start the process. I do like the attention for one overriding reason: I get to say "See! This is what *I* get to put up with the 90% of the time we are not here!"

Remember what the OP said in his article: It was easy to start off and find a woman but reality sets in and she realizes there are a ton of downsides to a foreign person who does not understand the local culture or even have a good grasp on the language. A lot of the guys going down really don't care about step 2 - its all about step #1 over and over.. Fly over the to a third world country for a week or two, get a house on the beach and live like a baller, then head home and save up for the next trip.

I personally don't know why anyone would actually seek out someone from a foreign country for a long term relationship, it certainly was not my plan nor my wifes - but when you make that connection what do you do? I DO understand why men travel to foreign countries for short term connections (AKA sex) - because you can spend 10 days with 10 different women living large like a little millionaire.

I don't believe it.. Prove it to me and I still won't believe it. -Ford Prefect

Awww how cute! !! What a live story indeed. It is true, men tend to want to skip the getting to know a woman and her culture step and go straight to step 10. That's a problem even within the u.s. just because you're from the same country, speak the same language, don't mean you'll have an automatic understanding. It depends on the person's surroundings.

But aren't American women who want to marry up considered gold diggers? Just asking.

Women who just want to marry up and get rich husbands are often labelled as gold diggers

Not solely referring to American women.

“There are definitely some women who are clearly gold diggers — very focused on wanting to live a certain type of life that they don’t think they can accomplish on their own or don’t want to accomplish on their own — and finding these men is the answer,” says Manhattan-based relationship therapist Rachel Sussman.

I'm not sure if I can agree with some of what she is saying.

"Not only should the woman have a job, says Spindel, but a sizable income six figures is expected. She should also be independent and live alone."

So having a sizable income equals not a gold digger?

Pretty much port visits for the Navy. I knew dudes that had cupid profiles for every country we would pull into. The PI and Thailand were usually numbers 1 and 2 on the list of favorite places to moor.

I think most folks look for overseas as a way to avoid what they perceive as issues that are exclusive to American women. Not realizing that no culture is perfect. You have gold diggers and stuck up women just like here. But some men want to wife up that woman that you know already isn't wife material. And get their feeling hurt when she shows her true self(the one you ignored because you were too busy looking at the wrong body parts. Her head and heart is what you should be worrying about).

I don't knock anyone for dating outside their culture if it's because you happened upon it or were drawn to that person for them. But when you exclude an entire demographic for some bad apples, there might be complications later. I knew a guy at my last duty station that swore off PI women because of 2 that he married. Both were bar girls, and one of them came here, went to school, joined the military, got commissioned, and now he has to call her ma'am. I told him people are people, foreign or domestic. That's on you for making bad choices. What's even funnier is he's with an American women who treats him even worse. But he's happy for some reason.

Awww how cute! !! What a live story indeed. It is true, men tend to want to skip the getting to know a woman and her culture step and go straight to step 10. See that's weird. For me, it's all about the learning of their culture if you're going to date them. That's the best part, when you are getting to know the person you spend the rest of your life with. Even with an American woman, it's all about hearing about their life, so you can learn how to make them happy, to avoid making them cry, and to strengthen your relationship.

I think woman who is financially secured themselves are less likely to be a gold digger, and money probably not the top criteria/quality she will be looking for in men.
