Oh good lord I don't know how I missed this. I read as much as the thread as I could but I just can't wait to hop on to say:

This guy is a well known "men's right's activist". A lot of those websites require brain bleach after visiting them. While *at one point* they may have had real, solid points about gender equality (I'm thinking specifically in family court and custody cases, among a few other more debatable topics), it's largely devolved into a misogynist cesspool/ echo chamber. One of the main concepts is that there exists a sexual marketplace where women are valued for looks and fertility (which corresponds to youth) and men are valued for economic status and general power. They are quick to point out that women are inherently "depreciating assets", which... gah.

One of the common drumbeats of this group is that Western women have "forgotten how to be women" and don't take care of themselves (weight, clothes, grooming) and are promiscuous, and all have attitudes of entitlement and off-putting independence. (This, by the way was said right here "to my face" by the male fiance of a foreign beneficiary who I was having a disagreement with over whether or not apostilles and translations were needed for embassy processing. He jumped on to tell me off. Turns out: I (and you know-- the embassy checklist) was absolutely 100% correct and she wasted, and was encouraging others to waste, 3 days and $50 Edit: which, as I said over and over again on that thread is fine if you want to be super safe and or need the documents in the US. But if you don't live anywhere near the embassy and have a million and one other things going on in your life because, you know, you're moving to a new country and getting married next freaking month, just hanging around San Jose for days, waiting for a certain stamp that you *do not even need* is not exactly a top priority).

Aynway... their solution? Foreign brides are better. But, when faced with the criticism that by doing this (specifically looking for a foreign woman specifically for these attributes), they are sort of taking advantage of a serious power imbalance and may not be finding true love, after all. Enter: this article. Which is silly and misses some obvious things right off the bat.

Sorry for the vent good lord do those folks annoy me. I actually came on here to say: most of these guys are full of it. The people who run the websites are probably scum but probably also don't believe half of what they type. They're going for page clicks. Because something's got to pay for the ramen they're eating in mom's basement. Literally. Roosh V, the author of that article, has been living here the whole time. So much for international playboy.

Brain bleach! Seriously. I mean, this is the place that seeks to legalize rape.

My biggest question about the women valued for looks thing, though, is *another* complaint is how vain women are and how much money they spend on frivolous things like nails and makeup so... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'd also give you a heads up on engaging with them. They've got an answer for every insult and criticism ("gee I wonder why you're single" is just an example of the American woman's attitude that *she* is the prize being sought and their propensity to emasculate their foes-- that sort of thing). There's a list somewhere on one of those places. I'm serious it's like a catechism.

We've seen these moves before. Places where they call out women all day and then proceed to either insult them when they waddle in or ignore them if they can't win the argument. It's all so they can justify their horrible attitude towards women.

Logic and reason don't even exist in those forums. I had a dude straight up tell me that a woman with kids is considered a reformed ####### and he can't be bothered since he has standards. If she was super hot, she would have to make at least 45,000 a year, and the father would have to be on court mandated child support, so he wouldn't have to support the children, but he himself had 3 kids with 3 different mothers. But in his case, he can afford to be choosy because he's an asset, and the woman is a liability.

Ahhhhhh yes, Return of Kings. Roosh is something... very special. I remember when he tried to get in with the Stormfront dudes and they told him no.

I'm glad some of these guys embrace the MGTOW (Men Going Their Own Way) "ethos" because it gets them out of the way of any woman who might be subjected to their BS.

I had no idea what MGTOW was until I went to that FB page that hates on American women. Sounds like a bunch of butt hurt cry babies who can't even get a woman anywhere.

See this is another sad part of this-- it could be a good thing, sort of the male side of the "woman's empowerment" thing where you can lead a happy and fulfilling life without a man and you go girl and all that stuff. Men can and should have full and successful and happy lives without wives/girlfriends/sex/whatever. But our macho culture won't allow them to do so without looking like a loser. So instead of combating macho culture (which is hurting us all) and having actual gender equality (the horror), they just turn MGTOW into yet another avenue to bash women down a few more pegs. So they can still be superior.

It's maddening.

Also I couldn't help but LOL at the brief discussion of Latin men and machista culture in Latin America. Short version: at least in Costa Rica, yes it exists and yes it is more visible (and a bit more overt) than here in the US, but it's all the same issues, in a different language. I can't speak for the rest of Latin America, though, and I would assume that Costa Rica is a bit of an outlier, at least from what I've seen on those UN gender equality maps. Also, also. I did not marry one of them! He comes from a loooong line of very strong women. I don't think he'd know how to function without one in his life (kidding kidding....mostly).
