Good evening everybody, We are trying to collect the documents to send to NVC.... I have a question about the marriage certificate.... I have a certified copy but it is from May 2015... And I have my original marriage certificate but I don't want to send the original since It is from Colombia and I don't want it to get lost... Is it ok for me to send the copy from 2015 or do I need to get an updated one? Or is it ok for to make just a copy from the original? Thanks

I know this is difficult, but I will keep trying. It will work because, this distance is nothing compared to our love.

10/2013 we met at church in USA, through some common friends. We became friends.

06/07/2014 we went to our first date. :dancing: Why did we take so long to go out? :ranting:

06/22/2014 I said YES.. I want to be your girlfriend... :luv:

07/16/2014 I had to come back to Colombia because my program was over

10/10/2014 My love met me in Colombia to spend my birthday weekend with me. We got engaged (L)

02/17/2015 - 03/09/2015 He came back to Colombia to visit me and met my family. :star:

05/12/2015 We couldn't stand the distance, so he decided to move here with me.

05/28/2015 We got married at the notary. 06/06/2015 We got married at church :D

12/03/2016  Moved back to the USA. 🥰

08/2020 Became a Citizen. 🇱🇷

08/2020 Applied to bring my mom. ❤️

02/28/2022 went to pick my mom to the airport in Florida 🤩

Hi Yeah you can send the copy of your marriage certificate, because you must bring with you the originals one at the time of your interview !
Good luck to you and try to collect all the required documents double check before sending them, so you can avoid the check list and get a case complete Asap

You can send in copies (Xerox copies) of documents to NVC for AOS and IV packages. For interivew, either an original document or its certified copy is required. For example, in my case, we have a marrigae certificate (which does not look official at all) and also a Certified Abstract of Marriage. I plan on taking the Certified Abstract of Marriage for the visa interview. Hope this helps.

To be clear, a certified copy is a copy from the ORIGINAL issuer. It is not a notarized copy.

For the NVC, you send a photocopy. At the interview you need the original or certified copy.
