Hello,

My wife applied for my IR-1/CR-1 Visa on 22nd March, 2016, we got E-Notification on 31st March, 2016 i.e Your case has been accepted and routed to the USCIS Nebraska Service Center for processing. Today, on 4th April, 2016 we have received written official Receipt Notice (Form I-797) but whenever we try to enter Receipt Number on USCIS website it says that "My Case Status does not recognize the receipt number entered. Please check your receipt number and try again".

My question is that when USCIS will uploaded/updated my case status on their website.

Which service center?

Also this has always been an issue. The online case tracker is spotty at best. My case didn't show up for over 2 months. Some people get their citizenship and their I-130 still never shows anything past received.

CEAC is extraordinarily unreliable. Our case has been on READY for Interview since late January. My Fiancee had her interview approved on February 16 and the case updated date changes every now and then, but the status is still stuck on READY. It's annoying. Hopefully, we get some good news soon. Best of luck to you, buddy.

I may be wrong, but from what I understand, the first response (NOA1) is ONLY a receipt, not a case number. You have to wait until they look at your paperwork, approve it, and send it on to Vermont until you get a case number that you can look up on their site, You couldn't possibly have been approved in that short amount of time. I thought the same thing when we got our receipt, but that just means that Chicago received your paperwork and sent it on to Nebraska. Nebraska is currently about 4-5 months behind on looking at paperwork. They are just now looking at mid-November applications. The minimum time for Pakistan is about one year waiting time, IF you don't get the good old unpredictable AP (Administrative Processing which is a name check) that could last from weeks to years.

NOA1 has your receipt number for the USCIS.

We have sent documents to Chicago Lockbox and they have forwarded our case to Nebraska Service Center

The receipt number is NOT the case number. It only means that Chicago received your papers. When the Nebraska Service Center is finished going over your papers and, hopefully, approves them, they will be sent to the next center in New Hampshire. I'm not quite sure if you get your case number when your papers leave Nebraska, or when they look at them at the NSC (National Service Center).

Yes it is.

There is a case number as well when you get to the NVC but that's a DOS case number. The receipt number is the USCIS case number.

It can take a while, even months, for the case number to show up on the case tracker. Even then it's not necessarily reliable.
