Big black d?

That reminds me of a photo I took of my wife in the Cayman Islands... They had various placards out about Big Black Drake, Big Black Bob, and this one about Richard Le Noir...

In many ways, the young men who take my seminar typically, 20 percent of the class mirror national trends. Based on their grades and writing assignments, its clear that they spend less time on homework than female students do; and while every bit as intelligent, they earn lower grades with studied indifference. When I asked one of my male students why he didnt openly fret about grades the way so many women do, he said: Nothings worse for a guy than looking like a Try Hard.

The article points men don't take education serios.

Nor should they.

Funny... Hey your wife is really hot!

Yes she is! I cut out the hair since it was in cornrows, I didn't want to get that debate going :) Her grandfather was African and her grandmother was a native American so maybe she qualifies? I'm going to need a chart.

Too late! ! I saw the braids. Cultural appropriater!!!! Hahahahahahahahahaha I'm dying over here.

You're totally confused. No one, other than that other crazy girl, will think your wife is appropriating. It's more about not giving credit where it's due and less about the use.

I won't deny being totally confuse but in this case I know nobody would have a problem, I was just being a pest :)

I thought the same thing...

“Hate is too great a burden to bear. It injures the hater more than it injures the hated.” – Coretta Scott King

"Oppressive language does more than represent violence; it is violence; does more than represent the limits of knowledge; it limits knowledge." -Toni Morrison

He who passively accepts evil is as much involved in it as he who helps to perpetrate it.

You don't believe in homework? Or you don't believe in trying hard?

I believe people can make something of themselves without college education; I believe the way this world has gone with pretty much forcing most people to go to college is insane...and I believe most college professors are useless.

I also do believe in working and trying hard, but not necessarily via homework. I've been known to not do my homework and not study for tests in school - all I cared about was passing. And I knew I was smart enough to pass without doing any of that. I didn't need great grades to feel good - C or D is fine, just let me pass, and to pass I don't need to study. But all of that is not even relevant to my original post. My point was that fretting does nothing good for you. Cool minds prevail - there's no need to fret. And yes it is true that guys seem to fret less, not only about their schooling but about most everything else, and that's just because our brains are literally different. Chemically we're not the same. Of course there's outliers on both sides here and there and girls who fret less than boys, but for the most part it is just one of the differences we're born with.

So nor should they fret, and also nor should they take their studies that seriously, because well life's too short to be serious all the time - that's not to say they should not strive to succeed in life, but some girls kill themselves over school - and I believe it's a lot more than pressure from society(they strive for perfection and WANT all A's...want, not think it is asked of them) - they would see the world that way regardless.
