I heard there is a new law that we have to have enough income to sponsor fiance, they are no longer to accept co-sponsor. is this true?

how much income is enough? is it different from state to state? Let's say 15K, 18k/ year? does it have to be three consecutive years ?

Thank you

I haven't heard about the co-sponsor not being able to help out, but the sponsorship level is 125% above the poverty level, so for a family of 2 you and your fiance'.. it will be about $16,030 .

You are required to be a sponsor for three years and sign an affidavit of support stating that your fiance' will not accept government help and you will be responsible for this person while they are in the US...

Hopes this helps,

vankhai,

You've been mis-informed, or you have mis-understood what you think you heard.

Where are you hearing these things? I'm always surprised when I see things like this. The federal law clearly allows for a co-sponsor if the sponsor doesn't qualify financially. Search on the internet for more info.
