Hey,

I have been on the forums for a while, but I couldn't find anything about this.

My situation: I recently found out a little mistake that I made with the adjustment of status,

so I called to uscis. They said that I can send a changed affidavit with a letter.

This way I wouldn't get an RFE for this issue and the application wouldn't be delayed.

Since I am really bad at making up letters, I was looking for an example, but I couldn't find it.

Does anyone have experience or an example somewere from a letter I could possibly send with a new affidavit to the uscis? Or guide me to a website with samples.

Thank you.

How are we supposed to know what exactly the mistake was ? It depends what it was in how to formulate the response.

I wouldn't think that it would meet up with your file anyway even though they told you it would, it rarely does.

NVC Received : some dinkelsberry yehoo in the house of clingons send our petition to the wrong consulate.

Consulate Received : July 30,2014 Transfer to right embassy complete.

Interview Date : Oct 22, 2014

Interview Result : AP , requesting another PC (not expired) and certified divorce decree (was submitted)Stokes interview via phone for petitioner 4 hrs after interview.

Oct 23 email notification visa approved.
Visa Received : Nov. 3 , 2014 VISA IN HAND.

US Entry : Nov. 21, 2014

Marriage : Dec 27, 2014

AOS send : May 12, 2015, received May 14, 2015 USPS priority

Email &text : May 18, 2015, check cashed May 19,2015, return receipt May 21, 2015 stamped USCIS Lockbox, NOA1 (3x) May 22,2015

Biometrics : June 1, 2015 letter received for appointment June 8, 2015, successful walk-in June 1, 2015

RFE : June 12, 2015 for income not meeting guideline. Income does ( ! ) exceed guideline.

RFE response : June 26, 2015 returned with a boat load full of financial evidence.

UPDATE: July 5, 2015 updated on all 3 cases, RFE received June 30, 2015.

Service request : Aug 12, 2015, letter received that it will be processed within 90 days from receipt of RFE.

UPDATE: Aug 24, 2015, EAD card being produced/ordered. ( 102 days from AOS receipt day and 55 days from RFE response received.) Thank you Jesus !

Emails : Aug 24, 2015, EAD approved, EAD card ordered.

I-797 EAD/AP approval notice received : Aug 27, 2015

EAD/AP combo card mailed : Aug 27, 2015, EAD/AP combo card received: Aug 31, 2015

EAD/AP (renewal) approval Aug 22, 2016, NOA2 received Aug 25, 2016

Renewal EAD in production notification text and online, expedite successful 4 days after RFE request response was faxed, Aug25mailed,Aug29received.

Sept. 21 Interview, 2 hour interview, we were separated and asked about 50 questions each for an hour each. IO was firm but professional, some smiles.
Several service requests made, contacted Senator and Ombudsman. Background checks still pending.
July 21, 2017 HOME VISIT.  Went well. Topic thread in AOS forum.
Waiting to skip ROC and get 10 yr GC due to over 2 year while pending AOS
AOS APPROVED Oct. 4, 2017 * Green card in hand Oct 13, 2017 !!!!!

First K1 denied after 16 month of AP. Refiled. We are a couple since 2009. Not a sprint but a matter of endurance.

I just want to find some kind of sample of someone that has send a letter before that something has had to be modified. Because I am sure not everyone has the same things, but since I have no idea where to start on a letter, a sample of anything would help me so much.

I just put some numbers in the wrong section, and forgot to put the passport copy with it.

But then again, just any sample letter of any change in any form or documents would do, I would know how to change it into my personal letter, you know.

When you initially contacted the USCIS "mis-information" line did you get this info from the first rep you spoke to, or a Tier 2 rep? Trying to match up a correcting statement or documents without a number, i.e., RFE number, is like trying to link up 2 needles in a VERY large haystack. There have been reports of limited success with such schemes, but they are more likely the exception rather than the rule.

In contrast, with an RFE notice, at least you know that your file has been worked on by a specific adjudicator. That adjudicator then issued the RFE. When the requested info is provided (with the specific RFE notice), it is then forwarded to that specific adjudicator who then incorporates your requested info into your file, and then can continue working on your case.

Regarding the first reps @ the USCIS mis-information line, why not call three times and follow the best two out three uninformed responses you will get?

Personally I would wait for the RFE (that is if it is even spotted). Changes of it getting lost are pretty good.

If you do decide to change it, I would suggest to fill out a new I-864. But it's april 4th now, so there is a good change you'll get an RFE for not including 2015 taxes (o the joy of paperwork :) )

Cover letter doesn't have to be fancy, just a "to whom it may concern" and make sure to include your case number.

If you made a mistake on a form then send in a corrected form along with a cover letter stating that the new form xxx is to replace the previously submitted form xxx. Be sure to include the case number as well.

I already did send in the 2015 taxes mostly since my husband has had promotions and it just looks so much better than 2014 (we are both pretty young and just starting to build things...so every year is improved)
