Lease documentation

I have a rather unique situation when it comes to lease/mortgage agreement to be used as evidence when I file my i-751 next month. My wife and I currently live in a house bought and owned by my wife's grand mother, who lives in a house across from us on the same street. Does does not charge us rent per se, but we pay the entire mortgage payment, ourselves. All other home repair and maintenance is also handled by us. The grand mother paid a sizeable down payment and her intention is to gift the house to my wife and I upon her death.

So this brings up an issue when it comes to lease/mortgage documentation as I do not have either one of those two. Is there anything else that I can use in its place to explain the situation? If it helps, my in-laws also live with us in the lower story of the house.

Write a cover letter when you file explaining your living arrangements and have your wife's grandmother back it up in an affidavit. I did not have the full required 2 years worth of joint bank statements that are required, I just wrote a letter explaining why.

Maybe you can put this in writing like an affidavit attesting who owns the house right now, who the eventual owners would be or the plan of transferring to you, and that you have been paying the mortgage (include the starting date), and make the grandma sign it. This might work.

As stated above I would do an affidavit explaining what is going on and the situation. Then have it signed by y'all and your grandmother. Another thing to think about is what name are the utility bills such as power, water, cable. internet under? When we did the ROC for my wife I submitted copies of those showing that both of us are on some bills, and she is on a few by herself at that address. We did that for her ROC and had absolutely no problem at all.

Another thing I have to say is Go Duke and Go Vols!!!! I am from NC and I love Duke, but my best friend goes to UT and I have been to a couple of there football games. So I root for only those two.

Like judge judy would say.... Do you have proof of the mortgage payments. Can you show the money leaving your account and going to the lender or to your grandmother and then it going to the lender? If so that should be okay along with a statement to guide them through the evidence etc

I have all the documentation needed to back this arrangement up. I can access and print the mortgage statements online, and have copies of all the cashed checks that I wrote for the mortgage payment (images printed off the bank's website showing cleared checks not just the carbon copies from my check book).

I can also fill out an affidavit. However, the only complication is that grandma is quite old and doesn't get out of the house much. So notarizing the affidavit will be an issue. Given that I will have all the evidence to back up this arrangement, would it be absolutely necessary to get the signature notarized?
