Thank you! So for a request sent last Friday, I should expect a response some time this week. That's reassuring.

Do they usually first acknowledge the receipt of the request, or not?

Yes they do and would state that is under review. Here's the timeline for my expedite req I made for my son:

05/26/15 sent request

05/29/15 NVC replied (ackn)

06/04/15 NVC emailed result (approved)

UPDATE: our case was ACCEPTED for expedited processing! Whoo-hoo! Super fast turnaround from NVC, great job!

Timeline:

Tuesday - Approved

UPDATE: Thursday - CEAC shows case "IN TRANSIT" (i.e., NVC sent it to the embassy).

Filed: IR-5 Timeline

UPDATE: Thursday - CEAC shows case "IN TRANSIT" (i.e., NVC sent it to the embassy).

UPDATE: Friday - CEAC shows case "READY" (i.e., case complete and at the embassy).

So for anyone wondering how long does it take: it took exactly one week from the submission of the expedite request to NVC, to case being completed and ready at the embassy.

Very good job by NVC!

Firstly congratulations!  Wow! I requested an Expedite and got approved for one

Sent:  25th Jan

Under Review:  26th Jan

Approved for expedite:  Feb 1st

Our AOS and IV packages are in transit however (and were at that time) and they haven't scanned them in yet.  I'm sending from abroad so postage is slower.
Had you already had all your documents received by NVC before requesting your expedite?  I ask because our status still shows "at NVC" and hasn't moved onto those next stages like yours, so I'm trying to see what to expect next.

Also, did you receive the wording "The U.S. Embassy or Consulate is willing to expedite this case when we have all the fees, forms, and documents." or did you have other wording.  Sorry just asking as it seems expedite replies have changed lately and therefore so has the process once they ok it.
