I'm here for awhile. We still have a few years of paperwork and time before the entire process is done. That is if we complete the entire process. I already promised the future Mrs. that during the greencard process before she gets full citizenship (since that will require her to forfeit her chinese citizenship) that I want her to think long and hard about her new life in the USA, and if she is truly unhappy here, we will pack our things and move to China together.

So another update..............................................

.............

..........

.....

04-06-2016 - Case went Administrative Processing

04-08-2016 - Case went to Visa Issued (contact embassy if it is not received within 10 working days)

04-13-2016 - Visa stamped in passport has arrived. (Her Visa was delivered within 3 working days.)

It is now up to her to decide when she wants to move her. We will play it by ear. She needs time to pack her belongings, spend more time with her family and friends, to say her goodbyes. The easy part is now over, the hard part is ahead.

It is worth noting, we Paid for the special delivery service, instead of choosing a pickup location. She wanted to pay to have it delivered directly to her home, it is very likely that this sped up the process.

Congrats Chris!!! It's very thoughtful for you to travel to China and do all of this for your future Mrs.

I'm still waiting for my P4... It has been a week after the consulate received my packet. Don't know how long does it take......

BTW, did your fiance bring her resume to the interview? I was told that might be needed during the interview...

Thanks.

The resume is one of the required documents. There have been other discussions about why it is required, and the consensus is that they want to know what skills are being brought to America (and whether any potentially dangerous skills are being brought over). Not to steal Chris' thunder, but yes, you should bring a resume.

3/22/2016- P4 email

5/12/16- Interview. Approved!

5/16/16- After a few days saying administrative processing, CEAC now says issued!

Additional snafu: my fiancé came over on his visa, but just a month later (and the day before we were going to get married) he had an emergency that necessitated him returning to China.  I contacted the Guangzhou consulate via their email system, provided the requested documents/proof, and he was granted a second interview for "reissuance."  He had to re-do the medical, redo the interview (bringing yet another copy of all of the things he had to bring the first time) and we were approved again!  He received what looked like a new visa in his passport, but the original 90 day countdown for marriage was still ticking.  He came back to the US and we got married right away!

8/22/16- Married!

The resume is not about what skills you are bringing. China is a Nuclear power, the Resume is to ensure that you are not potentially coming to work in the Nuclear field and potentially relay information back to the home country .. National Security yada yada..

My Fiance is a School teacher, and did not prepare a resume for her interview, and she was not asked for one, but that was her choice despite my recommendations, It is recommended to bring one, but obviously not required unless you are in certain career fields.

Thank you very much, It had been 4 months since I last saw her, so regardless of the interview I was going to make another trip to China. It took us about a week(6 total days, 4 Working Days) to receive P4, it will be sent via email to the address you provided when you went through P3. A copy of P3 was sent to both her and myself, since we listed both of our email addresses.

Yes, I had heard this explanation, but had also heard that it can be part of an subjective assessment of financial stability. In cases where if the affidavit of support is borderline, and the foreign fiance intends to work in America, some interviewers may take into consideration the overall health and employability of the fiance in determining whether they would be a financial burden on the country. I remember Chris had said before that his future wife did not intend to work in America, so since 1. she was clearly not involved in nuclear research and 2. he could demonstrate independent ability to provide financially, I guess it may be a combination of those reasons why they did not ask her to present her resume. I am helping my fiancé prepare his resume since we are borderline financially and he does intend to work soon after coming over.

The resume is one of the required documents. There have been other discussions about why it is required, and the consensus is that they want to know what skills are being brought to America (and whether any potentially dangerous skills are being brought over). Not to steal Chris' thunder, but yes, you should bring a resume.

OK. I'll start preparing them soon just in case. Thanks a lot Rasaco!

I think there is nothing I can do so I'm gonna wait patiently. While doing so, I'm going to climb Huang Shan tomorrow. Haha~~~

Thank you, just keep all your ducks in a row, and don't skip over any steps, as long as you dot your i's and cross your t's the whole process is painless for China.

This, this right here is the best information possible. Double check all your documents before sending them in, ask questions, and get answers before starting the process.

The hardest part for us was my fiance finding me after her interview. We agreed to meet at the Starbucks so I could sit and wait (not knowing how long it would take)...little did we know there are no less than 3 Starbucks right around the Consulate.

Overall, the process is pretty simple, so long as you follow the rules and are honest in your paperwork. The experience definitely brought us together more as we worked on the paperwork, and the long waiting between hearing anything new. GZ may have a reputation for being a difficult Consulate, but my fiance and I didn't experience any problems (no RFE's, etc) since we made sure everything was in order.

I just wish the weather was a little better - it was hot and humid the whole week we were there, and it rained off and on the whole time. We didn't make it to the top of Canton Tower, but we did walk around both old and new GZ city centers.

Congrats.. It's a shame about the weather, we couldn't have had more perfect weather when we were there, great temperature, rained only 1 day, climbed the tower and took photos.
