Ummmm yeah lol definitely left up to the discretion of the CO. I laugh because we were given a second interview because the CO requested specific information (Facebook chats) and according to my husband she didn't even look at it or any of the information that I packed into a well organized binder when he went back. Nevertheless he was granted the visa.

We had pictures 10 different pictures in total. I believe that was our downfall unless something else happened that I'm not aware of.I feel like if you are going to be approved, it has little to do with what you submit on the 2nd interview.

During our 1st interview, I submitted all of that but because I had recently started making more than the poverty guidelines requirement for 2, coming out of college. The CO requested for a co sponsor and tax transcript for the past 3 yrs. She noted the 3 yrs on the form.

Needless to say, the CO didn't look at requested documents and denied our application based on something else. I underestimated the process and naively submitted the minimum documentations and we are starting all over again.

It is up to CO's discretion. I heard of a guy who attended interview with his fiance. Out of the blue, CO ask for W-2 form. Luckily, the guy had his in his pocket.

I will say, none of these documents cost money to acquire. OP should get them , if they are needed then , it's all good but if not, you have nothing to lose.

From my experience. CO noted on our form for 2nd interview to bring a co sponsor and 3 yrs of tax transcript.

We submitted 4 yrs but CO didn't look at the papers.

Your not a K1 applicant. It may be different.

Item Numbers 18.a. - 20. Federal Income Tax Return Information You must provide either an Internal Revenue Service (IRS) transcript or a photocopy from your own records of your Federal individual income tax return for the most recent tax year. If you believe additional returns may help you to establish your ability to maintain sufficient income, you may submit transcripts or photocopies of your Federal individual income tax returns for the three most recent years.

So it is fair game for CO to request that. And in our case, CO did.

The CO can ask for whatever they wish no matter what visa type, but just because the CO requested something from you, for your particular case, does not mean that it is the general requirement across the bard for everyone.

The K-1(your profile states you did a spousal visa) requires the I-134, and the instructions for Ghana on their website do not even list tax returns at all.

http://ghana.usembassy.gov/document-checklist.html

Evidence of Support - Any evidence which will show that you and members of your family who will accompany you are not likely to become public charges while in the United States. The enclosed information sheet, Optional Form 167, lists evidence which may be presented to meet this requirement of the law. Form I-134 should be used when an affidavit of support is to be submitted.

I went through K-1 process and we had 2 interviews.

I mixed up on the form but CO requested for 3 years TAX TRANSCRIPT and a sponsor application.

My income at the time was enough for 2 (starting that year cos I'd started a new job) but CO focused on that an told my fiance that "she didn't want him to be a financial burden on me so we need a sponsor and 3yrs tax transcript".

Fiance returned with those and the new CO didn't look at them and denied our case.

Does the embassy list going to the beneficiary's workplace and home to do investigation? yet they still do it in Ghana.

So I shared what happened to my fiance and I at the Accra Consulate.

Like I said, CO didn't even look at. But i'm sure if we had it then, we would have had a decision that day and not wasted another 1 month waiting for a rejection.

If OP would listen to folks who have never dealt with Accra Consulate, good for her.

I pray she gets approved...

They can certainly look at reviews and experiences of those going through the same consulate. Never stated otherwise. I simply posted the info from the consulate's own website.

You stated it was a requirement. It clearly is not, as others that did go through that same consulate have stated. They had a different experience than you. The CO has sole discretion. They can ask for whatever they like. They make decisions on a case by case basis. In your case they asked for more. In other cases they do not. I pointed out that your experience in and of itself does not a requirement make.

Also, among many different countries, when a job is very recent, a co-sponsor can still be asked for, even more so if the income is borderline. They will look at the totality of the case when deciding if the intending immigrant will become a public charge or not. They like to see ongoing income stability.

Thank you all so much for the information! Don't know what I would do without this site! We have a Co sponsor and we got 2 years of tax transcripts with their check stubs. I also sent my fiance a letter from my job confirming my employment.

Interview is tomorrow! Please send us all your blessings and positivity.

Peace and light.

Wish you good luck with the interview :)
