Driver's License validity period

We folks in WV are some of the unfortunate ones who only get 2 year driver's licenses whose expiration date coincides with expiration date of first two year Green Card.

I know that some of you lucky ones get 5 or more years of driver's license.

And, we are really worried about the next step when we get the paper one year extension letter. I strongly suspect WV officials will not recognize the validity of that piece of paper at all.

Actually this is the 4th driver's license for my spouse in the middle of her 5th year here.

First, when she was a University student who could work on campus. It expired at date on I-20.

Second, when she got EAD card for work under the OPT program after completing masters degree. It expired at date specified in OPT.

Third, when she got second EAD card when we submitted AOS documents after marriage. It expired in one year.

Fourth, when she got first 2 year Green Card. It will expire after 2 years.

We fear obtaining the fifth DL is going to be a bear.

Sort of discouraging to think that the farther along we proceed with the process, the wall is getting higher.

And really strange when we tell our foreign spouses that USA is very efficient country without nearly as much red tape and incompetence as they have in their original home country.

Oh wow, I feel for you man. But hey, the sixth one should be normal at least (I hope)!

P.S. I'm just wondering now about whether I should wait to get my actual GC after I immigrate before getting the WV license for fear of not getting one with a one year validity if I show up with just my passport with the endorsed visa.
