NVC Stage I-864 household related question

Even though I've recently filed my I-130 I figured it doesn't hurt to do my due diligence ahead of time so when NVC stage gets here I have all the questions answered and documents ready to go. So this question is I-864 related as the title suggests.

On page 4 of I-864, it asks for the household size. On top of the page in line 1 it says, "Provide the number you entered in Part 3, Item Number 28" - This is my wife whom I'm sponsoring. Then I go onto enter 1 for myself in line 2.

Now in line 3 it says, "If you're currently married, enter 1 for your spouse". Do I enter anything here? Doesn't that increase my household size from 2 to 3 and falsify the information to be provided to NVC? So should I just be skipping this line even though I'm married?

Looking forward to hear what the wise folks on this forum think.

There's a bunch of posts about that particular question in the forums. The form says not to count anyone twice and, additionally, the "enter 1 for spouse" is in a section entitled along the lines of people not sponsored in this affidavit. So, no, don't enter 1 in line 3 for your spouse, despite what the "helpful" hint says.

Also, on "Part 2 : Information About the Principal Immigrant" should I be using my wife's future address in the US or current address abroad?

I'd put the principal immigrant's current address there.

Edit: no problem ;)

Ok. This has been a bit confusing. I've seen examples of people doing as you did and others putting immigrants future address in the US (aka sponsor's address)

Well, the form does say mailing address for the beneficiary (and not physical address) so I can see how either the immigrant's current address abroad or the sponsor's address in the US would work. I really don't think it matters much--I didn't get any physical mail from the NVC after submitting the I-864 anyway.

FWIW, we put my current foreign address there and went through NVC just fine (no checklist).

Awesome! Thank you.
