April 2016 AOS filers timeline

I follow the VJ topic with April filers for AOS from family based visas and a few people from there adjusting from K-1 have already gotten their GCs approved with interviews waived.

Well that is very promising. I though about it after you mentioned it and it makes sense. Since we have proven our relationships overseas to get the K1 visa to get here. Why prove it again. But we must all keep it in mind that USCIS my still require an interview should they have any doubts about our relationships.

Either way, best of luck to us all.

It's not really about them doubting your relationship or not. They may waive an interview for a k1 adjustment of status if the workload at the field office is back logged, for example. I think it's mostly by sampling.

My online status still says "My case was received" for EAD & AP, but yesterday I got two letters in the mail saying my EAD/AP were approved. I guess I will get the card next week.

My AOS has been ready for interview since May 23.

Can I travel to Canada and return? My F-1 visa is expired. I have never been out of status here though.

AOS from F-1

ROC

2 yr GreenCard expires: 03/24/2019

12/27/18 i-751 ROC mailed

12/31/18 USCIS received package (# starts with LIN)

01/30/19 18 month extensions received. Did not get any email/text even though I signed up for it

06/25/19 Biometrics completed in St.Paul MN

10/21/19 RFE received. Insufficient evidence.

10/24/19 RFE response delivered (per USPS).

You should be good to go after having the AP in your hands.

Hi Aich I had a question. Online it has said "ready for interview" since may? Does it give you an interview date or it just says its ready for interview?

Thanks,

Harry

It says "As of May 23, 2016, we are ready to schedule your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status, Receipt Number MSC1690XXXXX, for an interview. We will schedule your interview and send you a notice. Please follow any instructions in the notice."

So it's just ready for an interview, waiting for them to schedule a date.

Hello everyone,

I am a bit late to the game but wanted to share my timeline since i am an April filer.

I am currently on a work visa in the US, have been for several years after a student visa. I am married a US citizen and after much thinking, filed the whole package (AOS, EAD, AP) in April this year. My notice date is April 13.

Biometrics were done in lovely rural Virginia on May 10th and since, as of today, nothing has happened for me at all... I cannot access my cases in the USCIS system and I have no idea what is happening.

I called USCIS several times to get a feel or any info but beside "case is progressing normally, we will keep you posted", the people there have not been extremely useful. I filed a service request for approaching regulatory timeline last Monday but once again, nothing has changed (cases still not in system). So tomorrow will somehow be the 90th day since filing so I am looking at a nice extended period of waiting for my work authorization. I do not even think about the green card at all, chances are that I'll file the ROC the day I finally manage to receive the temporary one hahaha !!!

This uncertainty is really taxing, granted I can work through my current visa but a work visa severely limits choices in terms of switching to a better (paid) job. I was really looking forward to having some sort of freedom to work but so far, nothing. I was already on the fence with regard to getting a green card but this whole process just reinforces my reluctance to actually stay in the US anyway. I am trying really hard to follow the rules, I pay taxes for stuff i am not allowed to benefit from (unemployment anyone :P), but the immigration system in the US is so screwed that I feel I should just bail out with my wife.

Anyway, good luck to y'all, maybe USCIS will actually get to work in July... or not

we have a similar timeline as our notice date is Apr 13th as well and we have not heard anything regarding the EAD. the one thing we have going for us is that we live in Ohio and Columbus has an office that moves quickly from what I can tell on here and from the fact that our interview is already scheduled. I was hoping the EAD would come before our interview but now I'm not so sure.

4/8/2016 mailed AOS package (lawyer)

4/19/2016 bank confimed that cashier's checks were cashed

4/22/2016 received hard copy NOAs for I-765, I-130, I-485 ***Priority date 4/13/16***

4/30/2016 received biometrics notice, scheduled for 5/13/2016

5/05/2016 Walk in Biometrics done, Columbus, OH

6/22/2016 Online service request submitted for EAD

6/30/2016 Interview scheduled for 08/04/2016

07/20/2016 EAD card being produced

07/27/2016 EAD received

08/04/2016 Interview completed, APPROVED

08/13/2016 GC delivered

***able to check I-485 receipt number as of 6/30/2016, I-765 receipt number as of 7/20/2016, I-130 as of 07/28/2016**

Haha. Columbus, Ohio is one of the fastest field offices. If you are not in a rush for any job offers, you might as well just wait for the GC and save the trouble running to SSA or DMV twice to update your info.

My interview is also on Aug 4th in Detroit. Not too far from you. Lol good luck to both of us on that day! Haha

I got my EAD/AP card today, 10 days after the status changed to "in production" (but the July 4th holiday was also in that time frame so that probably delayed things). Also this happened after I made an infopass appointment to ask for an expedite, which was successful. I got the notices that I was approved on Saturday, and then today (Monday) I got the card in the mail.

Still no word on when the interview would be but I'm not in a rush.

Edited to add: they used my biometrics picture instead of the picture I sent in with my application. It's a shame because I looked better on the pictures I sent in, instead of the one they took at biometrics :P

Hello and congratulations again.

Just got done looking at your timeline again and I am truly amazed as you how you have gotten your I-485 approved so quickly and without an interview it seems. Also you have not gotten your EAD nor your AP (not that it matters now cause you have your GC in hand). I would love to know what it is that you have done differently if anything at all.

Congratulations again.

We're not in any rush but my wife is getting bored out of her mind sitting at home. Trying to stay optimistic about the EAD but losing faith fast. Good luck to you too on interview day!
