NVC Stage Tax filing and joint sponsor related question

Even though I've recently filed my I-130 I figured it doesn't hurt to do my due diligence ahead of time so when NVC stage gets here I have all the questions answered and documents ready to go. So this is a tax filing related question as the title suggests.

From what I've read online it looks like I have to provide 1 or 3 years of tax transcripts to NVC. Usually 1 yr seems accetable, but looks like 3 yrs would be better ... just to be safe and avoid any kind of delay. Now even though my last 2 years incomes are decent (~420% of poverty guideline for 2 person family), going back to 3rd year's income is scaring me a little bit. I was in grad school in 2013 and my only source of income was my summer internship (which slightly crosses over the 100% guideline). Now, do I need to explain to NVC that I was in school and that's why my income was so low for 2013? Do I need to provide any other proof to show NVC that I was in school? Since I only met NVC income requirement for all of the past 3 years, do I need to add a joint sponsor?

Looking forward to hear what the wise folks on this forum think.

Are you currently making over the poverty guidelines? If yes, dont worry about something 3 years ago.

Yes, certainly been satisfying NVC's requirements for the past 2 years. So I'm assuming no co-sponsor is required either?

Current and continuing income is what is evaluated. 3 years ago will not be an issue. From what you've stated you are well qualified as a sponsor.

We were in a similar situation where wife was making less than the poverty guidelines in some of the previous years (we were also grad students through 2014), but is making more than enough now (and in 2015) and the previous years were not an issue at all.
