What do they check on the medical exam exactly?

I've read somewhere that you have to disrobe completely in front of the doctor. I am applying for k1 and I have some self harm scars on my legs. I was planning on not mentioning that but if they see I'm worried I'd have to go for a psych evaluation. They're not even big, just a thumbs length I guess, but they're raised which makes them more noticeable. So do I have to strip naked like in front of the doctor like she's watching a strip tease, or will they give me a lab gown?

No I don't believe any professional doctor would ever have you strip in front of them! That's degrading! I think every medical facilities procedure is a bit different depending on the country.

If the doctor sees your scars and asks just tell the truth. They sent my fiancé to a psychiatrist. He didn't want to go but got through it. He went for a second medical exam (cause his expired) and they said he's fine does not have to go to psychiatrist again. (Different issue than yours)

Don't worry or stress yourself out. Just be honest. It will all work out ok.

You should fill in your timeline though because questions like these are country specific and you will get better responses.

External genitals are checked. You will have to pull down your underwear to be checked. Some doctors just look and other are more in depth.

Some women report having to pull down their underwear and then open their legs. It's to check gender and also and sign of std.

If you have self harm scars you will have to get medical history from your doctor with a report to say that you are not at risk of self harming anymore.

Yes they will ask you to disrobe at SLEC. I don't know exactly what they are looking but she checks everything... They will ask you a lot of question first then they will do the Physical and they require you to be naked. Its not a good idea to lie because you have marks.

You should declare any incidents of intentional harm to yourself and have a doctor report to say that you are no longer a threat to yourself or others. Being dishonest could go against you, especially if you are seen to be hiding it.

I will not look back on this journey with fond memories, but I will look back knowing that every step was worth it, whatever the outcome.

Don't divulge information. Always wait to be asked. If it is not brought up by the Doctor or even the CO at your interview, then be quiet and say nothing. IF they ask then truthfully explain. Keep your answers short an to the point. Giving too much information may allow for additional questioning.

Fully naked? What, you just lay there and the doctor examines your naked body?

You will have a female Doctor. She has the same parts just like you and she has seen thousands of other females. You will have a hospital gown and she will expose the top and then cover you then move the gown up to examine your lower extremities. She will also check your backside. The exam is done not to embarrass you. Just try and relax. It will be over very quickly. My wife an older step daughter pass through SLEC exam said it was fine. My step daughter is a nurse and she said that they were very professional.

Any chance I can hide the scars? Maybe I could get henna tattoos over them so it's not noticeable..

You are who you are, for better or worse.

Hiding or lying about who you are or were will definitely ur journey much more difficult.

As Greenbaum mentioned above, don't mention your scars during the exam. If the doctor asks state the facts and don't divulge any details not asked for. Most Filipinas get into a conversation which only leads to more questions. Not advisable.

Remember that 100,000's have gone through the process before you without issues. I would be more concerned about having an infectious disease (TB) than anything else.

I've read somewhere that you have to disrobe completely in front of the doctor. - the doctor will ask you to strip (remove everything), put on the robe and lay face up on the bed. They have a curtained room for this. The doctor will check abdomen, will do breast exams, check wrists and will check for hemorrhoids by asking you to turn on your side facing the wall.

I am applying for k1 and I have some self harm scars on my legs. I was planning on not mentioning that but if they see I'm worried I'd have to go for a psych evaluation. the doctor normally asked about everything they see specially scars. Be ready to be asked about it and be truthful. They asked about my daughter's burn marks on her arm, she got it from cooking.

Don't be afraid of psy evaluation, you need to be honest otherwise it may hunt you in the future. The psy evaluation will not delay that much but will be for your own good.

They're not even big, just a thumbs length I guess, but they're raised which makes them more noticeable. So do I have to strip naked like in front of the doctor like she's watching a strip tease, or will they give me a lab gown?

Thank you! That was very informative.. Suppose I do get a psych evaluation, how long will that take?

The psychologist will just ask you to answer some written questions and will do some interview about what happened that leads to your scar. The session will depend on your case. I have read some case that they were able to get the psyc evaluation schedule the 2nd day of their medical thus did not delay so much on their medical process. The result should be available before your medial can be completed. Expect maybe 1 week or 2 weeks delay depending on the Psychologist's schedule.

I guess that's not too bad then.. It's just that I'm not from manila, and getting there takes 7-9 hours on bus. Getting there can be really exhausting and expensive you know? I really hope they just don't ask about it XD
