Yes it counts. As a matter of fact, a lot of people file N400 with ROC petition still pending. That's what I as well as  lucybelle intend to do.

@lucybelle: I had a scare over the weekend. Was going through the checklist for N400 and thought that failing to register with the Selective Service would doom me. I remember getting the forms back in 2005 when I first filed for AOS but I didn't remember sending it in. Actually, I was quite certain I did not send it in. Great disappointment was setting in until I checked online. As it turned out, I sent the forms in...dodged a bullet missile there .

Yes oh my gosh I saw this the other day!  Luckily my esposo entered at 34 years old so he didn't have to register.

Hey all,

Pretty much my monthly check in at this point to see how the VSC is moving along! Looks like there hasn't been much movement. However, my wife and I found out not too long ago that we'll be expecting our first child in June! We're very excited! Just a quick question, however, would it make sense for us to send in ultrasound pictures and/or letters from our doctors regarding the pregnancy to USCIS, or should we just wait it out and supply that information if/hopefully not when an RFE comes? It seems crazy to me that on top of the stress about becoming first time parents and working full time jobs, that we have the constant nagging stress of USCIS in the back of your mind! This site has been such a help through the whole process!

I would just wait until you hear back from USCIS. If you have sent pretty solid evidence, you should be approved without any hassle, it is just a matter of time. In case, you get RFE, just send them these additional supplements.

Good Luck..

I just called USCIS to inquire about our status (another April VSC filer), and what they told me supports what was said earlier in the thread. VSC is currently working through November 2015 cases. The person I spoke with said to expect another 5 months. When I asked about what happens as we get closer to the end of the 1-year conditional status extension I was told that I should go to our local field office to get another extension.

I filed the 29th of April (CSC). At this point, I'd be happier getting an RFE than nothing at all. I came here on a DCF, I wonder if that's the reason why mine takes so long. Do you guys think a congressional inquiry will make it any faster? Thank you.

I filled on April 18th CSC and haven't heard anything either. All we can do is pray and wait. I've become depressed because of worrying. Stay strong, you're not alone.

Another five months- sheesh.  I don't know whether to believe them because they're so incompetent it takes them this long, or to not believe them because they lie all the time just to get you off their backs.  (I'm so bitter about this whole process)

The other thing you can do is get citizenship application ready (if you/spouse would like to become citizen) and mail it in on the first possible day.  That forces them to decide on ROC and then move to the citizenship application.

There may be one small possible downside to filing N400 before ROC adjudication. If what I've read in another thread on VJ is true, your spouse will have to be present on the day of your N400 interview for review of your ROC case. n other words, you'll be guaranteed a second interview.

I'll try to find this post and link it here.

Wait I'm not understanding where the two interviews come in.  You get a N400 interview, and then a second one?  Or the first N400 counts as an ROC interview and then you get a second N400 interview?

The first interview will be related to the ROC. That has to be adjudicated before interview for N400.

Ah okay.  I still feel like filing for N400 right away would be faster.  That way you don't wait for X months until ROC approved before submitting N400 & waiting.
