Just received the 10y card in hand. I thank you all from VJ for the priceless support I received throughout my journey from AOS to ROC. I am not so sure if I will go for the naturalization as I am an EU citizen.

10 days which also included the physical approval letter that arrived three days earlier. You will be able to see the progress on USCIS status site. It will also give you the USPS tracking number with a link.

Vijc Netherlands does not accept dual citizenship? Do you need to give up NL in order to get usa citizenship?

The Netherlands allow dual citizenship under marital ties. However , that is not the point. I do not see any potential benefit in my case by obtaining another citizenship. GC is just perfect for my needs. Thank you.

Status change to card being produced! Found out the same night as the Cubs winning the series - that's 2 long waits over :)

Official status change date was 10/31.

The Netherlands allow dual citizenship under marital ties. However , that is not the point. I do not see any potential benefit in my case by obtaining another citizenship. GC is just perfect for my needs. Thank you.

My spouse is Australian, and is not sure if she wants to go for citizenship or not. We see only two real benefits: 1) the ability to vote; and 2) the fact that, as an LPR, there is a different tax treatment on my estate if I die. If she is a citizen, then she is able to take advantage of the spousal exemption for inheritance taxes. If she is an LPR, she will be possibly liable for more tax.

I believe this only matters if your estate is greater than a certain amount - but it something that we are having to consider.

I will, as soon as I qualify, get my Australian citizenship. If you can believe it, it is harder for me to get Australian citizenship than it is for her to get US citizenship.
