I think (but am not saying I know for sure) that you are fine if you travel abroad and return home before the expiration date on the Green Card. The reason to carry the NOA1 is from the expiration of the original Green Card until the 10-year card is in hand.

If you are nervous, then carry your receipt for the mailing with you to show that you have mailed in the I-751, but have not received anything yet.

I'm thinking those of us who mailed in after April 10th are going to see at least a 2-3 week wait for our NOAs. If they haven't cashed our checks, they haven't started working on the files, yet.

Hi all,

What type of mailing did everyone go with on USPS? I used USPS Priority 3-Day Mail and there's no tracking updates so far. Have contacted USPS but it's a waiting game now. I'm worried that they might have lost my package because I dropped it in the mail stream on April 21, which guarantees delivery on April 25. Very worried now, and looking for advice.

I did priority mail as well and just received my tracking update confirming delivery this morning.

But, that being said, I wouldn't worry too much about the MIA tracking for your package. USPS did the same thing to me last month when I sent in my passport for renewal and, of course, I was panicked since the package contained my expiring passport. I filed a complaint with the local post office where I mailed, but they offered little in the way of assistance other than telling me "see if the check you sent cleared." Supposedly they "double checked" to make sure the package had left their facility. Had my new passport in hand two weeks later, but never once saw a tracking update on the USPS website...

I used the same PO, same automated machine, same package acceptance box this time around. So I think their tracking system can be hit or miss -- usually at the worst possible times. Try filing a complaint with the office where you mailed?

Thanks for sharing. Yeah, I did file a complaint and they told me the same thing that there will be clearance notification from USCIS. The postal office at VT is extremely nice - they seem to know their clients very well. I can only wait for the NOA and cheque to clear at this point.

If not, will file for an insurance claim to my package and restart.

The issue is really not with the CSC - but with your own bank. However, CSC doesn't want to deposit a check that will bounce back and bite it in the behind, so they might reject it completely. Most banks these days charge the depositor AS WELL AS the writer of a check that does not clear.

I know you get rejected if the amount is incorrect.

Best of luck. If it comes back, just resubmit!

I had my spouse sit down with me and we walked through every single piece of paper that was being submitted to double-check. However, I don't think she examined the check we sent in!

Yes, indeed. I'm pretty disgusted because it's our bunch who were delayed at USCIS (especially Texas Service Center) when we went through our I-130 petitions. We got sent to the back of the bus when all the DACA folk had to be processed. Let me be clear - I have NOTHING against DACA folk. I just think those of us who are separated from our loved ones should not be delayed.

Anyway, they have been moving a lot of work AWAY from the Vermont Service Center to "even out the work load". So why haven't any petitions/checks from April 10th even been touched yet?????

How about a wager! What percentage of us VSC filers will be filing for citizenship before they've even looked at our I-751s? 80%? 90%???

And when do we start complaining to USCIS about the fact that they haven't even cashed our checks? Is it that dreaded 60-day cr@p again?
