No specific info on the Philippines, but quad band GSM phones should work just fine in any GSM network--AT&T & T-Mobile for sure, and I'm not sure for Verizon since even though they use SIM cards in their LTE phones I think they're still CDMA (although, some phones nowadays have both GSM and CDMA radios AFAIK).

Anyway, I have personal experience using unlocked GSM phones I got in Serbia in both AT&T and T-mobile networks and I've used my last Motorola from Verizon just fine in Serbia as well. Just make sure it's quad band since, from what I gather, carriers in the Philippines (like the ones in Serbia) use the 900/1800 bands and the carriers in the US use 850/1900, but even with that, most modern, especially mid-to-high-end phones are quad band as well.

I use the Cherry Mobile Cubix here, I am with AT&T and I believe it will work with T-Mobile as well. Works great. Like said most likely will not work with Verizon because they are CDMA

I bought two Flare 3 from Lazada recently for my niece and nephew in the Phils... they say they are fast.

GSM phones ONLY work on AT&T and T-Mobile, they do not work for Verizon. My wife has a GSM phone she bought here in the USA and she was using it when we went back to the Philippines last year.

I use at&t. my wife brought her phone over and I activated an old phone with an extra at&t sim card. When the phone was activated I pulled the sim card out and put it in her phone and it worked with no problems.

Yup, granted, nowadays, and especially at the higher price end, there's dual mode devices that will work on both GSM and CDMA networks (the iPhone 5 comes to mind).

That is true but Cherry Mobile do have a few higher price phones but not many and they are all GSM. The highest priced phone I saw for them was 13k php was is really expensive for a regular Filipino.

Is there a website anyone can suggest for looking at the specs of a specific model? I have become lost in all of this. I have a couple cherry mobile models in mind. However, the wife says they have not so good batteries.

I see conflicting information between sale websites, manufacturer websites and specout.com.ph as to what mhz bands the phone specifically has. I want to make sure if I spend the money on a new phone in PH it works with Tmobile US. 4g lte would be ideal. I've even looked at sites like willmyphonework.net and frequency check. But it one place it says it does not have the LTE bands for T-mobile US, and on spec out it says it does.

I am looking at the cherry mobile flare s play. The only downside to this model I guess is the 2000mah battery.

@Hank_ The cubix was also a model I was looking at too.

If anyone has any ideas, that would be great!

I use a cherry mobile one G1, the google phone, it gets all the latest updates for 2 years from google, its for 6k pesos, before that I use cosmos one their expensive line that was around 12k (and it was amazing)

Performance wise, it's decent, fast, good camera, awesome graphics. A lot of their phones have same camera quality as sony experia. You have to compromise with the design and other aspect tho, like they are very light cause the case is made of plastic, and the battery life also, I found myself buying new batteries every 6 months or so. Well I used my phone a lot, games and internet, I found my fiance in clash of clans! lol

I recommend cherry mobile because it's cheap and decent, and I think it gives you more bang for your buck. Plus you won't feel the bad if you break or lose it.

If you buy a GSM phone in the Philippines then yes it will work on the T-mobile network and it will work with AT&T as well. My wife has a GSM phone and uses it everyday, we have T-mobile.
