Hi all,

I'm about to start the process of petition my father, I am the USC and he lives in Colombia.

Just want to make sure I have all the documents and would appreciate if you guys can help me. Also, My father came with a visa back in 1999, and overstayed and left the country in 2004. Do I need to mention that in the cover letter??

This is the document check list

  • Form l-130
  • Citizenship certificate
  • marriage certificate (proof of last name change)
  • birth certificate
  • birth certificate translation
  • parents marriage certificate
  • parents divorce certificate
  • dad's birth certificate
  • dad's birth certificate translation.

Is there anything else that I'm missing? do I need to file the affidavit of support as well? and lastly, do I need to send passport photos of myself and father?

Thank you

His birth certificate isn't actually needed for I-130. You don't need to mention when he's been to the US before because that doesn't matter for the petition; it will be asked later at the consulate stage when he applies for the visa. Affidavit of support will also be asked of you later. You don't need photos.
