working with ss card with "VALID FOR WORK ONLY WITH DHS AUTHORIZATION"

My husband came to the US in 2013 on a K1 visa, so he got a ss card, but we returned to his country before marrying. He very recently came back on an IR1 visa, and we've paid and are now just waiting on his GC. We have not gone to the social security office yet since we are waiting on his GC, so he is using his card from before that says "valid for work only with DHS authorization". However, he recently got a job. I know his ssn will not change, but does that disclaimer on his ss card raise any red flags anywhere? His job is aware of the situation, I just wasn't sure with regards to immigration or any agencies how that works. Can anyone shed any light?

You don't need to wait for the GC. The visa foil in his passport is a temporary I-551 (GC) for up to one year, upon endorsement.

The social security has limited hours, we fully planning on going soon, but for right now, is he still okay to give out his ssn even though it has that stipulation on his card from his previous entry?

In any way, the endorsed visa = DHS authorization.

Some people became US citizens and still had "valid for work only with DHS authorization" on their SS card because they never bothered to update their status with SSA. It doesn't affect their ability to work. The only consequence of having that text on the SS card is that the card can't serve as a List C document for the I-9.
