I scheduled mine yesterday and I think the closest date was Aug 9th. What you can do rn is complete DS-160 form, so when the NVC status says "ready" you can book your appointment right away.

In theory you have to wait for the letter from consulate (packet 3), but you are able to schedule your appointment as soon as your case reaches the consulate. This letter is needed for ASC appointment, medical and interview though, so if you don't get it by the time of your interview, the only way to get it is going a day before to the information window of Juarez consulate and get it printed. That's why its a good idea to set your ASC appointment in Juarez too.

Ok stupid question time. I didn't see any guide here mentioning the ds-160 for the k-1. Who fills that out and when? And do we have to pay someone when we fill that out?

For us, I filled it out (USC) and had her (beneficiary) click the submit button. I think there was some verbiage that said the beneficiary should submit it. Be sure to click the save button often, as I had some troubles getting errors and I've read others have as well.

You can do it any time after you receive NOA2. No fee.

Here is where you fill it out:

https://ceac.state.gov/GenNIV/Default.aspx

Your next fee will be paid by the beneficiary at BPI (this part is Philippines specific). You need the NVC # to do this.

I also find it strange that DS-160 isn't mentioned in the K1 guide. Check out the link in Greenbaum's signature, it was helpful:

It asks for WAC number in the travel part of the DS-160. Between "Purpose of Trip to the U.S." and "Intended Date of Arrival". It clearly says "Application Receipt/Petition Number" (which is the WAC number).

Hello everyone,

We received our NOA2 on June 23rd and going to start calling NVC today to get a case number. Now I have a few questions.

What can I start doing once I have my case number?

Now I read that for the Frankfurt consulate I-129Fs of approx. 66 days ago are being processed. What does that mean?

Can I do anything right now to speed up the process except for collecting all the documents that is being asked in package 3 (although I haven't received it yet)?

Thank you so much in advance!

Is anyone else experiencing a nightmare with filling in the DS160?

I am unable to even progress to the photo part, whereas before it was allowing me to get to the photo step and then not accepting the photo I had despite it being the correct size and format. Now I cannot click on the 'photo' to even get to the page where I can upload it.

What do I do? Is there anyone I can contact? Am I better off just starting the whole thing over? It's ridiculous.

I am at the point of ripping my own hair out right now.

I am thinking you guys' photos are too big? And by that I mean the files are too big?

Try and resize them to see if it works?

Also, just FIY, when I filled it out for the J1 I had, I didn't even know I needed to get some sort of certified 5x5 photo so I took one myself on a white background, with a good camera, resized it and used it for the DS160.

When I went to the embassy, they asked me to take new pics with their photo booth but ended up using the one I had taken myself on the Visa!

So, if you want to try that -cheap- option, it's also a possibility :)

It literally won't even let me get to the photo part now. It's a joke. The whole website is a total joke.

My photo is the correct size, it's a US passport photo I scanned in, is under the size limit and is a jpg. Don't understand the issue. Was told to use a different browser, tried this, still didn't work.

At this stage I am feeling actual rage. I blame it being that time of the month - sorry for the slight ranting.
