My fiance received NOA1 last March 8 . it's probably still early but I think I should get a passport now so there won't be any hassle for when we get the NOA2. I've never had a passport before so I have no idea how that works XD

If you are from Metro Manila, you can book an appointment with DFA website ( I have heard that available dates now are for May 2016 already). Expedite is 10 working days from appearance date. If you are from out of town, it may take one month from appearance date.

Apply NOW. requirements can be found on the DFA website quoted.

AOS/ AED/ AP:

(California Service Center, Chula Vista, San Diego, CA)

Filed: Aug 29

Receipt Date: Sept 2

NOA 1 Date: Sept 12 (received text/email)

NOA 1 copy rcvd: Sept 16

Biometrics Notice Date: Sept 17, received Sept 24

Biometrics Sched: Oct 5

Successful walk-in: Sept 26

Oct 13- Case ready to be scheduled for interview

EAD/AP approved - Nov. 1/2 / Received EAD/ AP Combo Card- Nov. 15

My fiancé struggled with getting her passport. She started in December 15'. Now she should finally have it before May 1. After that....interview scheduling and medical. It's been a frustrating process this passport. DFA doesn't cut you any slack either. Hopefully you haven't lost documents in a flood and been called different last names along the way by your parents. Best advice is to book appointment, visit DFA website, print all requirements, compare requirements to what you have, call DFA with questions, get help from a travel agent if you are unsure of anything. And remember that if DFA turns you away at your first appointment you have 30 days after the appointment in which you may walk-in with corrected documents and complete your appointment. They don't volunteer that information as if you're naïve they will merely book you another appointment 5 weeks out. Red Ribbon is a good idea too prior to the appointment if you can get it. DFA handles this I believe.
