Hi everyone

My fiance is a US citizen by birth, but he can't find the official copy of his birth certificate and only has a copy. Should I include just the copy? I'm worried that they'll ask for an original and we won't be able to produce it obviously. I believe we can do just his passport but the instructions say all copy ALL the pages, does this include the cover and even blank pages?

Let me know what would be better for us we file on Monday

If he is going to use his US passport as his proof of citizenship he needs to make copies of all the pages including the blank ones. As for the birth certificate you can send a copy as long its a front and back copy for the birth certificate.

Okay thanks, I think i'll do the passport, seems like the safer option since the cover letter says we may 'need to submit originals at a later date"

You can google birth certificate and the state. I can order as many copies of my birth certificate as I want from the kansas department of vital statistics for 15 bucks each. Takes like 5 days to get here and order online with credit card. Same with divorce certificare, birth certificate my kid, etc.
