GC and passport name mismatch

Hi I just have a question. Actually I am planning to visit philippines by nextyear but I am a lil bit hesitant. The name on my greencard has my full name and my new married last name but the thing is I have 3 first names and the last first name is missing 3 letters, now my passport has my maiden name and I understand that I can only bring my marriage certificate regarding about the lastname issues. The problem is in my green card my first name is missing 3 letters because I have a very long name. Is that possible that I can ammend it at phil. Embassy in los angeles and tell them to match my passport to my greencard?

Your long name fits in your PH passport? My daughters has 3 first names and did not fit in the passport, their full name was reflected on the next page in full. Since the passport has micro chips their complete names will appear when scanned.

Same thing with your green card, they can only fit xx number of letters.

Philippines Embassy cannot do anything for you, your passport is based on your legal name. For your peace of mind call your USCIS nearest you.

I don't think you want to even try to change your name.

You should up-date your passport to include your new married name.

I think what they did with your green card is the standard so if you update your passport I'd think you will be good.

I also think your full name/s is on all your immigration papers and everything else you have like birth and marriage certificates etc. They just did (what they do) on your green card because of space availability so if you change your name legally in one place you'll have to change it everywhere else also..

The Philippines is very picky about names. They've even written laws saying how you can change your name when you get married. You might get them to allow you to drop a few letters on your passport name, but I wouldn't bank on it. I'm not sure if you came on a K-1 or got married in Phils, but if you were married outside the Philippines, you're going to want to do a report of marriage abroad, before you go to get your passport changed at the consulate. Some consulates will let you do it at the same time, but others require your report of marriage is completed before applying for the passport in your married name.
