Its easy to compare western civilisation to other areas and say "hey we are less violent", but you have to understand that we are simply on different cycles of time and development. Yes, the US and parts of Europe have shown a steady decline in violence (as shown by our ever lowering crime rates) but contextually you have to understand that areas like the Middle East have not benefited from the tailwinds that the US and Europe have experienced for the past 300 years. In fact, due to imperialism and colonialism, western civilisation is directly responsible for the state of development of countries in the Middle East, India, and Africa.

western imperialism didn't make Islam. Moreover much of the world hit by it was even worse off before.

In any case you are speaking of seeds. Regardless, the western tree is healthier today. Much of the world acts in ways be outgrew hundreds of years ago.

I am proud of what the west is, it is that simple. We are all lucky to live here.
