How long does it take for NOA2 to reach NVC to begin their process and allot a case number? My approval date from Potomac service center was 04/06/2016.

Did you get your NOA 2 hardcopy yet? My case was sent to NVC one day after NOA 2 (USCIS updated the status online) and was recieved a week later. Found out by calling NVC. Then 8 days later a called again and got my case # and IIN. You can always call and ask NVC. Make sure you've got your receipt number if you do.

Hi everyone!! Hope April has been good to you all. Just scanned through the forum... I have my fingers crossed for you too, LinJoe!

Question!! I submitted my documents to the NVC last Tuesday (April 19), but I did it electronically! I'm a noob and noticed that everyone's timelines seem to have a "scan date"... am I still waiting for one or is my scan date the day I got an automatic reply after I submitted my documents? I'm a little nervous now, and wonder if I should have just snail mailed the package!!

Anxiously awaiting some enlightenment. Thanks in advance!

Just wait and enjoy you daily life until 30 days passed your scan date. Call NVC after this day, if you don't hear what you want to hear keep calling them every day until you hear the good news that your case is complete. All the very best!

Thank you for your input. I have another question related to AOS, my income is below the poverty line since I am still a student. My relative will be sponsoring my wife, do I need to submit anything stating that my income is not enough to sponsor my wife on my own? In another word, do we submit two AOS, one from me another from my relative?

I *believe* you would submit two forms - an I-864 for yourself and an I-864A for your relative (joint sponsor). Please check the instructions though, or wait for someone else to answer if it's not clear. I'd hate to lead you down the wrong path.

Did you sign up for text/email notifications on https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/landing.do? If so, you may get a text/email notification saying your case was sent to Department of State (aka NVC). give it at least a week after that for NVC to receive your case. then start calling NVC to confirm they received it. Then wait another week and start calling for your case number and Invoice number.

If you didn't sign up for the notifications, have you called NVC to see if they have received your petition from USCIS? if you haven't, no harm in calling them. Just be sure you have your USCIS Receipt number ready.

You have to submit two I-864 forms. One for you, and another for your relative indicating that he/she is the joint sponsor. On your joint sponsor's I-864 form you'll mark the box indicating that he/she is the joint sponsor. In addition, you'll still submit the tax transcripts OR W-2s and tax returns for both you and the joint sponsor. The joint sponsor also has to provide a proof of US status, such as U.S. birth certificate, U.S. naturalization certificate, U.S. passport...

I have a question. Im the petitioner and got a new job where I make $24,000+ with taxes and get around $21,000 without taxes per annum. As Im doing this job only for a month can I file I 864ez or I 864 with a joint sponsor,because Im living with my parents and my father will be the joint sponsor then. and I filed taxes previously but didnt make that much money to meet the poverty guidelines. Please help me out.

According to https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/form/i-864ezinstr.pdf you can only use EZ if it is YOUR income/pension being used. It looks like you should be filing an i-864 for yourself and i-864a for your joint sponsor.

I've seen it take anywhere from 1-2 weeks to almost a month to reach NVC. And another 1-2 weeks for a case number to be assigned. It's been 3 weeks since your NOA2 so I'd call to at least find out if they received the case.
