Hello my scan date was 14 march 2016. I lived in South Africa last year but located to the uk in january. I got my police clearance in august 2015, because you never know how long they going to take with documents there. But police clearance came in august, but now worried my clearnce wont be valid becuase i read its only valid for 6 months? I moved end of december to the uk will that police clearance be sufficient enough?

I also have an expired police certificate at NVC,I was advised by someone in this forum to get a renewed one ASAP just in case they checklist me for a more recent one so maybe you should do the same but hopefully they just let you bring a renewed PC to the interview. Please keep me updated since your scan date is a week before mine and your fate will probably be my fate as well...best of luck with the process!

police clearance is valid for 1 year and has no expiration if u didn't went back to the country that is issued from

Hello everyone,

There are a couple of us with a possible expired Police Clearance, and I have read the forums back and forth and it seems like there are different answers from different members. Is anyone who has already gotten a CC and Interview who had an expired Police Clearance able to let the rest of us know if there was either a checklist from NVC or a requirement at the Embassy to obtain a new Police Clearance?

Thank you,

MW

hi guys,

I pay my AOS And IV fees, is there a specific deadline for the submission of related documents? my husband is the agent and he's not in the us right now.

I believe you have a year to submit your stuff but I'm not 100% sure hopefully someone else that's positive can give you some feedback.

= = = = = = = = = = = = = =

You have a year since the USCIS received your petition, NOA1

Hello everyone,

Does anyone have a link where it officially explains this? I know from reading VJ that you have an entire year to collect all the documents (AOS & IV + DS Form) and then send to NVC (or submit online). But I don't think Frankjavir is right. It it not a year from your USCIS NOA1, but a year since the last time you had contact with NVC... also what is concidered 'contact'??? If you call them, or the last time you submitted something, which I guess would be the payments (AOS & IV fees).... Does anyone have an official answer for this and where did they get it from?

Thank you,

MW

Important Notice: Termination of Registration

Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) section 203(g) provides that the Secretary of State shall terminate the registration (petition) of any alien who fails to apply for an immigrant visa within one year of notice of visa availability. The petition may be reinstated if, within two years of notice of visa availability, the alien establishes that the failure to apply was for reasons beyond the alien’s control. Therefore if you do not respond to notices from the NVC within one year you risk termination of your petition under this section of law and would lose the benefits of that petition, such as your priority date.

I don't have case complete yet but this information about needing an unexpired PCC is directly from the Department of State website. I take this to mean if at the time of your interview your PCC is expired, you must bring a new one to the interview:

https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/immigrate/immigrant-process/documents/Supporting_documents.html

Important: Police certificates expire after one year, unless the certificate was issued from your country of previous residence and you have not returned there since the police certificate was issued. If at the time of your interview the following three items are all true, you must bring a new police certificate to your visa interview:

  • You are more than 16 years old;
  • The police certificate submitted to NVC was obtained more than one year ago; and
  • You still live in the country that issued the certificate.

My husband is in el salvador. He obtained his pcc in Sept of 2015. So we should still be ok unless his interview is after September? Because he told me his pcc is good only for 3 months. If he renews it now by the time he has his interview it will have expired again.

Also noa2 was sent to nvc April 13. When is it recommended I start calling for a case#

i saw it ... i will call to confirm now .

but i also got a checklist

______F - FINANCIAL EVIDENCE:______________________________________
We reviewed the Affidavit of Support documentation you sent to the National Visa Center
(NVC). According to the current poverty guidelines, it does not appear you or any of your
sponsors meet the minimum income requirement to sponsor the intending immigrant(s)
for this petition. To avoid delays, you may have an additional sponsor complete an
Affidavit of Support (Form I-864) and provide it to the intending immigrant to submit at
their interview. At that time, a consular officer will make a decision regarding this
requirement.
its weird..my dad is my sponsor. his total income was 76000 in his 1014 for 2015.
is it because i only sent one year tax return??

Question for those who filed out the I-864 using the online PDF form. Some areas would not allow to enter N/A or if it was asking for a number you can't type NONE or N/A have people been leaving these things blank. I thought I read not to leave any blanks. Even the instruction say not to. I thought about printing in by hand but afraid the bar coded on bottom then will be not matching up.....Any advice?

Not sure what bar code are you talking about. I dont see any bar code on I-864. Would someone care to explain?

So on my NVC invoice it says "If you are unable to submit a payment online, please contact the NVC to arrange for an alternate payment method."

I'm going to see what that "alternate payment method" is... no way I'm waiting "up to 42 days" to fix a silly code issue.

Did they give you an option to do an ''alternate payment method''? or must you do step 1 first?

You can always do the alternate mail in. It takes about 30 days to process. This same thing happen 1 year ago and it took from April when it happened to September to clear things up. It was a mess. That was when processing was 60 days it tuned to 3 and 4 moths time. People mailing in and it took forever. Hopefully they fix their issue soon.

Wow...so I guess it's either wait in hopes of them fixing the issue soon, or send in through the mail and wait on that.

Is there an alternate way of doing Step 1 at all? or must it be online?
