This is how the process goes.

1. Submit DS-261

2. Pay AOS fee

3. You can now send in your AOS and IV packages.

4. Usually in a week or so call NVC to have them review DS-261. This unlocks the IV fee.

5. Usually in 2 to 4 days IV fee is invoiced.

6. Once IV fee changes to PAID in about 2 to 7 days. The DS-260 is available.

Only people with lawyers have the luxury of paying AOS and IV same time. Because they do not have the DS-261 to deal with both fees are invoiced together.

I did everything as it was listed on the NVC welcome letter. It's not in the same order as you have it here. I was also out of the country for the past two weeks so I did what I could overseas. Then finished the rest after I got back. I called the NVC initially to see if they had assigned a case number and since they did, they told me I can do the choice of agent over the phone. I never submitted a DS-261 online. After that I paid the fees as they opened up. Then submitted the DS-260 and then sent in the financial and supporting documents. The documents should arrive there on Monday. Does that sound okay?

So we can send the documents without paying the IV fee. Thanks alot. Again wanna say I read the NVC wiki over and over again. But want to confirm do we need to send two cover letters for two packages or one for both and what else on the top except the cover letters before all the supporting documents. Sorry if thats an idiotic question. Please help!

Yes, you can send the documents before paying the IV fee. The only difference between the AOS and IV Document Cover Sheets is that one says "Attn: CMR AOS" and the IV says "Attn: CMR." If you print off two of the AOS cover sheets and white out the AOS or if you have Adobe Acrobat just remove the CMR.

By the way, If you haven't already, you should call NVC and have them review your DS-261 over the phone. Once they review, that will unlock the AOS fee. Once you paid, give it up to 5 business days for the IV fee to change to "Paid" status and the IV Application will unlock. Everyone has to be proactive with NVC, don't wait for them to review the DS-261 on their own.

This is something that still confuses me. Did you get more than one cover sheet? I only got one that had listed both AOS and IV documents. According to the NVC all financial and supporting documentation should be sent in one package.

"After you collect your Affidavit of Support form(s) and financial evidence in Step 4, and supporting documents in Step 5, you must submit all of your forms, financial evidence, and photocopies of your original civil documents in ONE package to the NVC. Your case may be significantly delayed if you fail to submit all of your documents in one package."

Yes, there was a document cover sheet that came with the NVC Welcome email. When you go online and pay the AOS and IV fees, you'll see that there is a link that says Document Cover Sheet. It has a bar code on those cover sheets with your case number on it.

Yes, you're going to send both in one package.

Here's what I did: 1st binder clip that has the NVC document cover that came in the welcome email followed by the AOS document cover sheet then AOS documents. A 2nd binder clip with the IV document cover sheet followed by the IV documents. Then one big binder clip that kept both parts together. put all of that in a manilla envelope. then put the manilla envelope in the FedEx envelope.

Hoping to hear from NVC this week. Scan date March 15/2016

My second scan date was March 8, and I heard back Apr 7, so you may hear from them next week or so, (my first scan date was Jan. 28- I heard back Feb. 28, so it looks like they are really taking that 1 month period to review)....
