hi guys,

I pay my AOS And IV fees, is there a specific deadline for the submission of related documents? my husband is the agent and he's not in the us right now.

I believe you have a year to submit your stuff but I'm not 100% sure hopefully someone else that's positive can give you some feedback.

I have a question- Is it true that after paying the AoS fee, we can start and finish the IV application the same day of paying the fee? Also, you can send the financial and supporting documents immediately after paying the AoS fee? I've been reading blogs and one lady says, that she spoken to countless NVC staff over the phone and one call centre person gave her this advise. Link: https://spousevisausa.wordpress.com/

Hi guys,

I'm hoping to get some clarification here. I read on some site,(can't remember which) that the review of AOS and IV documents does not necessarily depend on the submission of the ds260 and IV fees. It was stated that NVC reviews those documents and then whenever the the DS260 is submitted and it is reviewed then the case becomes complete. Does anybody know if this is fact or myth?

This is how the process goes.

1. Submit DS-261

2. Pay AOS fee

3. You can now send in your AOS and IV packages.

4. Usually in a week or so call NVC to have them review DS-261. This unlocks the IV fee.

5. Usually in 2 to 4 days IV fee is invoiced.

6. Once IV fee changes to PAID in about 2 to 7 days. The DS-260 is available.

Only people with lawyers have the luxury of paying AOS and IV same time. Because they do not have the DS-261 to deal with both fees are invoiced together.

True.

That's why it's stated in the NVC Process wiki and we say over and over again to get through NVC fast you submit your documents when you pay AOS fee.

It still takes 30 to 45 days, but during all that waiting ypu will have paid IV and submitted DS-260.

Oh...ok. Thank you so much for clearing that up for me. I was kinda on the fence about that because the agency that is doing our paperwork told me since last year that they sent in our documents but the secretary lied to us in November about sending in our DS260 and only when my husband went into the office and made a scene they actually did it, so now I'm very skeptical about believing what they say hence; I went looking for info online.

OMG you been waiting at NVC since November? Why? No case complete?

Fill me in about where you are in process.

Since November...I wish! I've been at NVC for more than a year! We started the entire process since May 2014! We got transferred from USCIS in Jan 2015 and in April the agent sent in the AOS documents and I'm assuming the IV documents as well (atleast that's what they said) then we got check listed because my husband's income did not meet the requirements so we got a joint sponsor and resubmitted. At that time it was taking 60 days to review documents so after we didn't hear anything I started sending the secretary at the agency messages everyday asking if they had any info for us...Finally in November she said it was time to complete the DS260 which we thought they did already, I was so infuriated! Anyway I gave them the info they needed and waited for a response from NVC again...in December I asked the secretary when she thought we would get a response from NVC and she said to give them until the end of February because they were closed for two weeks during Dec (I now know it was total BS) On Mar 1st my husband got really frustrated and decided to call NVC and they told him we were still at step 3 and no DS260 was submitted...he went into a rage and went down to the office and fussed the secretary out then he went into the agent's office and sat down with him (he was calm by then) and the agent showed him the documents he completed but my husband noticed that the screen on the agents computer was reading incomplete so he questioned him about that and that's when the agent said that he never received any notification from NVC that he can go ahead...he promised to do it that same day but I doubt that he did, then finally last month on the 21st my husband got an email that NVC received our documents and to give them 30 days...so that's my immigration story thus far. It's been so frustrating and sometimes all I can do is cry but my husband tries his best to come see me as often as possible and do whatever else he can do to make it easier.
