I've been doing some research on the adjustment of status and I'm a little confused, do we need to file a i-130 petition. I am entering the states on a k1 visa, will be marrying within 90 days and then filing for AOS.

No you do not need to fill out the I-130 just the I-485, I-765, and I -131. The fee is $1090 or all three filed concurrently. The I-485 is the Adjustment of status, the I-765 is the Work Authorization and the I-131 is for Travel Authorization.

First off, the fee is not $1090, it is $1070. Make sure you read the instructions for the filing fee and do not send the wrong amount or your submission will be rejected.

The fees for the I-765(EAD-work authorization) and I-131(AP-advance parole for travel) are waived when filed with a pending I-485, so include both of those too. It takes about 60-90 days to receive the EAD/AP combo card, which will allow you to work(along with an SSN) and re-enter the US when traveling abroad while waiting for the green card approval.

You need all the supporting documents for each form as well, so read the instructions for each one. You can also search here on VJ for what to include with each form if you get stumped. There are also example forms here on VJ you can look at when filling out the forms. They can be helpful.

We didn't. We had only been married three days, so didn't really have any joint accounts to show. if you have an interview, you can take marital evidence. You can also get approved with no interview and only the marriage certificate.
