Affidavit of support for K-1 fiancé visa

I am preparing my supporting documents for the affidavit of support. My bank told me that they can not provide a letter that states what my total deposits were for the year. They said they can only give me a letter with my current balance. This seems ridiculous. Does anyone know if my T-1098 would suffice as evidence of the total amount of my income (I am a PhD student on fellowship). This is a tax document that states the total amount of my grant last year. That plus a letter stating my current account balance perhaps?

If you send the Form 1098-T then provide back up that it's not taxable and perhaps the instructions to the Form 1098-T highlighted with the line item that relates to you. I didn't send any bank statements, but I had wages.

First ask for a manager, and then threaten to leave the bank. Most of the time front desk people/lower ranking employees will just tell you matter-of-factly that they cannot do something, because they don't want to do it or they don't personally know how.

If it is your bank account alone, no parents/others on the account with you, you have right to all information pertaining it.

As for your other questions, do you have income from an employer? Can you get a letter of employment and your pay stubs?

Exactly this. When I was applying for a UK visa before, I needed my bank information and I went to go get the exact information you are asking about. The teller wasn't helpful and said they couldn't do that. I politely asked for the manager and explained my situation and it was taken care of right then and there.

Thanks for the tip. I will go into a branch I frequent and try this. I don't have traditional pay stubs. I am paid bi-monthly like an employee but I am a PhD candidate on fellowship. It is possible I could get the university registrar to generate some report of what I am paid. I will try with the bank first. Thanks!
