Hi,

I currently hold a 10 year GC. In June 2015 I started my GC renewal process, did it all online. At the end of June 2015 I received my letter for the biometric appointment and attended the appointment on July 13. At that time an extension sticker was applied to the back of my GC which extended the validity to the end of April 2016.

Ever since then I have been patiently waiting for my new GC, checking the processing times to see where they are etc. Now that the sticker is getting close to its expiration and the processing times show that they are processing applications after my dates I am getting worried that something is messed up with my application.

As of last week (March 22) the status of my case was showing these….

On egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/mycasestatus.do my status shows as “Biometrics Appointment Was Scheduled” with a blurb about following the instructions in the notice and things to do if I didn’t receive the appointment.

On myaccount.uscis.dhs.gov the status of my case is “In Process” with a status message of “USCIS has approved your application, petition, or request. USCIS will mail your proof of benefit or USCIS action to you.”

I have submitted a case inquiry to hopefully get some more information, USCIS says they will reply by April 12.

On March 29 I received an email from USCIS telling me that they have taken action on my application. So I log into ELIS to see what is going on. Now my case status is “Closed” with the same message as above. The site where I just put in the receipt number is giving an error.

Does this sound like the normal status updates ? No information like a USPS tracking# etc. Should I be worried that something has happened, or maybe not happened properly with my case that has it stuck somewhere or is this normal ?

~Inquiry about 10-yr GC status, not AOS-related~

(mod hat off)

Welcome to the forum.

You should likely consider contacting USCIS at their customer service line, and speak only to a Tier 2 representative, and try to get this sorted out....soonish. I am somewhat surprised that you haven't already tried to contact someone at USCIS regarding this matter....now is the time for you to be more proactive.

Good luck.

Thanks,

I will be getting more involved if the 12th rolls by and I haven't received my GC or a response to my case inquiry. The reason I haven't been more proactive is that they put a 9 month extension on the current GC and said that some of the renewals are taking 6-8 months to complete, so what else are you supposed to do when they tell you that but wait 6-8 months and hope that something isn't messed up or that the GC wasn't lost in the mail ?

Since I was bored at work I decided to try my IOE on egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/mycasestatus.do again to see if I would still get the "User defined error" error and to my amazement it now shows a USPS tracking number ! And the tracking# actually works on USPS ! So it looks like my GC has left Corbin KY and arrived in Knoxville TN. Scheduled arrival at my house is this Friday. Now I just hope that they have sent it to MY home and the USPS guy can get it in the right mail box !

Of course none of this can be seen when I view my case in https://myaccount.uscis.dhs.gov/ ! All these systems and it looks like none of them can talk to each other. So glad I am almost at the end of this journey and can forget about it for another 10 years !
