I thought an invitation letter at least offers some kind of proof that you are staying where you said you will be staying as in my case and there is a bona fide address and phone number.

They care very little about where you're staying or who you're staying with (unless they think it's a romantic relationship).

They don't care much about why you claim to want to go to the US, by law they must presume you want to go there to stay.

That is what you have to overcome.

What they care about is reasons why you'd go home.

August 2000: We start e-mailing. I'm in Bosnia, she's in Florida

October 29th 2000: She sends me e-mail asking if I would marry her

October 29th 2000(5 seconds later): I say yes

November 2000: She sends me tickets to Orlando for when I get back

December 6th 2000: Return from Bos

December 11th 2000: Fly to Orlando, she meets me at airport

December 22nd 2000: I fly back to UK

January 3rd 2001: She flies to UK (Good times)

Mid February 2001: Pregnancy test Positive

Mid February 2001: She flies back to US

March 2001: Miscarriage, I fly to US on first flight I can get

May 2001: I leave US before my 90 days are up

June 2001: I fly back to US, stopped at airport for questioning as I had only just left

September 2001: Pregnancy test Positive again

September 2001: She falls sick, I make decision to stay to look after her as I am afraid I may have problems getting back in.

April 16th 2002: Our son is born, we start getting stuff together for his passport

March 6th 2003: We leave US for UK as family

Early April 2003: Family troubles make her return to US, I ask Embassy in London about possibilities of returning to US

April 16th 2003: London Embassy informs me that I will be banned from the Visa Waiver Program for 10 years, my little boys first birthday

June 13th 2006: I-129f sent

August 11th 2006: NOA1 Recieved

After our relationship breaks down she admits to me that she had never bothered to start the application process

Well I am taking my lease agreement for my home and letter from my boss stating when I am expected back at work. I have worked hard to get myself where I am today and I am certainly not going to give that up to be an illegal immigrant in a foreign country and have start all over again. So hopefully I get my visa approved.

OP, I think you are misunderstanding the replies so far. Most have focused on how the documents you planned to bring won't help you, but no one has commented on your actual case, because you have not shared too much of your circumstances.

The denial rate in SA is only 5%. https://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/Statistics/Non-Immigrant-Statistics/RefusalRates/FY15.pdf

The thing people have been telling you is that your story matters. The US wants to know that you have enough financial and social ties to SA to not want to be an illegal immigrant in the US. You show this by how you are. It's not a game (many people think it is, not saying you think this).

I will say it does seem a bit weird to give your friend $3k. Why not just split bills or take turns in bills? But anyway, don;t get discouraged. Just be you, see what happens.

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!

I agree with Harpa. Try not to get overwhelmed with this. Bring what you have and tell the truth, chances are you'll be ok.

Thank you for the info, the reason why I put $3000 into my PayPal account us because we are planing to so some touring like to Boulder City to take a helicopter ride they can be booked online as applies to some hotels and take payment through PayPal which is easier for me and does not leave a huge balance on my credit card.

The papers / documents / invitations don't tell the story, you do. What you've told about your plans, your friend, how you met and correspond is reasonable. Be prepared to share the story and bring along anything that you believe may be meaningful in case the officer asks.

Don't shove a bunch of things at them and say "see, this PROVES that I won't stay." Have the brief interview conversation and don't get rattled if you hear the same question rephrased. That's their job. It's what they do day in and day out. The truth doesn't change so it is easy to tell.

Your trip sounds like it will be fun. Enjoy the helicopter ride.

I applied for a B2 visa as I wanted to visit my fiancee while the process is on going as we have at this time not even received NOA2, first I was told that there is no application on system for it, then i was denied because of the K1, with the 214(B) letter. Should I reapply now, wait for some time and then reapply or just wait for the NOA2 to be done in the next few months hopefully?
