I didn't have any additional documents. And the most important thing in me applying was that I wasn't too determined to get a visa. It wasn't a matter of life and death to me, so I was relaxed, smiling and joking with the CO. And I only planned to visit Seattle for a weekend. Which I did

I wouldn't throw your chips away yet. !5 years at a job means your chair fits your backside well. To me it shows you are responsible.

Yes my wife got her B-1/B-2 first time. She was honest on her application. She was going to visit her boyfriend, she was staying at her boyfriends home for 3 weeks. A 10 multi-entry visa was issued. She went armed with a stack of papers which were never reviewed. We weren't sure she would be granted a visa and she was nervous at interview. And Ukraine is at war with Russia. Now she has been at her job for 20 years, has several bank accounts, and several properties and a child. Also she is well traveled. She went dressed respectful, and answered a few questions and was shocked when she was told "you are approved".......

I don't remember all the questions asked.....but it went along these lines

CO. how did you meet your boyfriend......In Paris

What does he do for a living?.......she answered XXXXXXX

Are you going to get married? .....she said "NO we are not engaged yet".

Why were you in Algeria? .....to give lecture

Well maybe you will get boyfriend to propose to you this trip.....you are approved

So don't lose hope....it is a gamble

Why bring supporting docs in they mean nothing?

They 'may' ask to look at documents so it's best to be prepared and have them.

The point is that so many people go to their interview convinced that some letter or contract will be enough to guarantee their approval. They're not, documents can be easily forged and any letter the applicant may have from a friend, family member, religious leader, employer, landlord, lawyer or politician does very little. Those letters could be written by anyone and hold no actual bearing. Same with financial letters, totally unenforcible so therefore worthless. No ones going to be going to prison if they write a letter saying they'll cover all expenses and then change their mind.

Even if a document is asked for it's only viewed as secondary evidence whereas that verbal questions and answers will be the primary evidence along with the COs interpretation of the applicants body language.

But it's not hopeless, thousands of tourist visas get approved around the world every day.

What you see in this forum are mostly posts by people who have been denied or are applying for one when they have some other problem going against them. So you'll see a disproportionately high number of bad stories on here, people who get approved annoyingly rarely come back to tell us.

I am from South Africa so I am not too sure but two friends of mine were approved a couple of months ago.
