So, we blame ourselves in order to remain blameless. Safer to blame our own societies and socioeconomic conditions than to blame the religious and cultural concepts with which terrorists poison their own minds.

A lot of people here are guilty of that self-hate, that sense that they aren't good enough to stand up for their beliefs and condemn those who challenge them.

we need federal background checks for gun owners and for immigrants and for refugees.

just because obama said that we need more background checks to cover certain loopholes in gun sales - doesn't mean that refugees aren't properly 'vetted' with their own background checks.

Well I know there are background checks for buying a gun. Been there.

How they check anyone coming from say Syria I have no idea. So reasonable to suppose just a facade.

Checks for Immigrants, well the last disaster showed that is seemingly dependent on the country they are coming from and in the case of Pakistan that means not a lot.
