The laptop with the powerbank is almost 15lbs which will leave me no weight to carry anything else so I will just pack it in one of the suitcases. The files are locked and encrypted so if someone does take it I will lose the data but the info is secure. I cannot really see anyone taking that thing though.

Still looking for some way to ship from here. Want to know the best pricing, etc.

I'm with cary's suggestion of removing the HD and just taking that with you.

Remove the hard drive , stick that in your carry on, and then the main laptop in you bags. The hard drive should be small enough to get through screening, they can see it isn't an attempt to sneak something evil on, and who would steal a check laptop with no hard drive

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

No point in taking the old laptop when you can't charge it. Just hook up the HD to a new one. It's not like they're super expensive. You can get a laptop at Target for under $300. Granted MINE was expensive but it's for gaming.
