Flying with a laptop!

My problem is that I have this huge laptop I need to take back to the USA from the Philippines. I brought it here without a problem by carrying it onto the plane. This time though the battery is completely dead so I am not sure how it will pass the screening where they have you turn on the laptop. I hate to carry the power brick because it is huge and also very heavy.

Can I pack this thing into my suitcase inside a box with padding or should I ship it back?

Thanks

Might get stolen...had polo shirts stolen from checkin luggage in Myanmar ...

This is a 2010 Dell that is very old and worthless. I doubt anyone would go through the trouble. It is also huge.. lol

Or put in small suitcase and bring on as hand luggage -the amount of stuff some people claim as carry-on...it's a joke.

That is how I brought it here but to go into the USA they have you turn it on and this one has no battery now. If I bring this on the plane with my power brick it is the entire 15lbs right there..maybe more. Like I said, old. It has my work data on it though so I need it or I would just give it away here.

No way to recharge? Sounds like a headache. Ok put it in your checkin luggage. Sorry waiting to take-off in plane right now. Will get back later?

Backup data and throw laptop away?

The battery is as dead as Osama Bin Laden. It will not take a charge at all. I will figure something out. This is a good problem to be having because it means we are leaving finally. :)

Have a good flight!

Just landed.

Yeah. Can you not get a new lighter laptop and transfer data. Or is that imposs coz of dead battery? Well best of luck whatever you decide,

That is impossible because of $$$$.. lol

I think I will end up taking it on the plane. I think we will be on Etihad on the A380 so we should have plenty of room for it. Just wont be able to carry much more. You can bet the next time I come back here I will have a new and lighter laptop! :)

Thanks for your help! :)

If the computer itself is junk, just pull the hard drive and bring that back. Back in the USA and you connect the hard drive to a working computer and pull the data off of it.

Shipping will cost more than its worth.

A- carry it on. If uscis really wants to look at contents they will find a way to power it up. That's there problem not yours.

B- just pack it in your luggage in the middle of your clothes. And hope the thieves at mnl don't steal it.
