Your brother isn't going to get a visitor visa to the US unless he has very, very strong ties to home. Period. Your writing a letter stating he needs to travel to accompany your son will work against him. A B2 is for tourism, not because his sister is afraid to let her son travel alone. He must apply and be approved on his own merits, and his merits alone. Period. Also even IF he does have strong ties to home, having family in the US will also work against him. As HFM stated(he is a retired CO and knows of what he speaks), no CO in their right mind will take the chance of your brother traveling here and "forgetting" to go home when he is coming here because of family and not for tourism. I am still dumbfound that people seem to think that writing letters on behalf of others will help rather than hurt. Tourist visas have nothing to do with anyone other than the person applying, and having family in the US attesting they will return or they will fund their trip is a ridiculos notion.

She already said she is still in the Philippines.

So.. she's still in the Philippines, can't travel with her kid, thus wants the brother to get a B2 to "accompany" the kid to the US. She can't travel now, but must travel to the US at some point so that the kid is born in the US.

Got it!

Its not that confusing shes in PI now with her son but has to come back to the US before he will have his interview because her husband is in the military and changing stations and she has Dr appointments. She can travel now but by the time he gets his visa will not be able to travel so she would like her brother to accompany her son. Though him getting a tourist visa unless he has strong ties is not likely I understand why she would not want her 9 year old son to be on an international flight alone. Try for the tourist visa and if that does not work look into unaccompanied minor options or wait until after you give birth and you are able to travel to go and bring him back with you.

Your brother will unlikely get a visa based on your statement. If you don't want your son to travel alone why not ask for his visa to be extended? He probably will get a 6 month visa so you can still travel with your son.

Is there an urgent issue that requires your son to travel immediately?

Your brother will have to prove based on his own merits. And looking at the fact that his sister has residence in the US, there is a small chance. Don't overthink this, after your son gets his visa you can wait for awhile before you travel.

But if you're 27 weeks preggo and can't travel but want to deliver in the US, how does that help your case? Seems like you are trying to create and urgency for your brother to travel.

Umm... I read all the post before commenting in a thread. I do understand that some peeps were confused in the beginning but the last few comments are just silly. Had people taken their time to read op's answer they'd see its not unclear at all.
