So how should moderate / peaceful Muslims get rid of their own extremist Muslims?

As Janelle pointed out, that's like asking peaceful gun owners to get rid of anyone who kills a person outside of self defense. To get rid of them, you'd need to destabilize the government and separate church and state for starters. Afterwards, there's a lot of more vigilance and work to be done. You're never going to get rid of crazy, but you can lessen the impact.

They're not their brothers, unless you want us to start throwing in the nut jobs who shoot up schools and theaters as your brothers at well. Crazy is as crazy does. Doesn't help when your country is fighting over religious values to begin with.

Really? We kill over everything. Road rage, cell phone texting in a theater, looking at you wrong, the list goes on and on. There's no way we can even point our fingers at ANYONE and act like we're better when our country is defined by gun ownership and we have a body count that rivals war torn countries(and in some cases) exceeds it.

There is a trend that Muslim countries are increasing intolerance of other religions.

e.g. Somalia,Tajikistan, Brunei banning Christmas celebrations because they could damage Muslim Faith which is ridiculous.

Even wishing non-muslims happy easter/merry christmas is considered by some as haram, could get killed for it, like in the Original Post.
