POE experiences

Can anyone shed any light on the process when you reach your POE. I will be flying from Heathrow to Washington Dulles.

Just click on the POE link at the top of the home page and put the filter on to the POE area. Plenty on there if you look.

Thankyou. Also o got handed a white envelope with a cd in it which I assume is my medical cd but the envelope is opened, is that OK? They handed it to me already open.

That should be your digital chest x-ray and it is yours to keep (and take to the US in case you end up needing to show it to someone so they don't have to xray you again I guess). From what I understand, you do not need to (and in fact, should not) give it to anyone at POE.

For panel physicians:

• Each applicant who has had a chest radiograph overseas, even an applicant with no TB classification, must bring the image into the United States on a CD-R.
• The CD-R envelope should not be stapled to the applicant’s DS Forms or other paperwork.
• The CD-R envelope or jewel case should be given to the applicant, with instructions to bring it into the United States and keep it secure for any follow-up medical evaluation. Instruct the applicant that the CD-R should not be given to Customs and Border Protection (CBP) at the U.S. port of entry.

Yea, that's your chest x-ray. Not required at POE, and if anything is just a souvenir of your medical, which you could possibly give to your American doctor, though, they would probably just do it again if required anyway.

I'm curious why they provide it, unless it's just because you've paid for it, you may as well get this results, as you probably would in a privately funded consultation?

According to the CDC link I posted above it's supposed to be for a follow-up medical evaluation in case one was needed, but I'd also figure they'd just xray us again anyway (or use another kind of TB test which is more common in the US from an xray AFAIK).

Realistically they're not going to deny at POE if you have everything in order, sealed envelope, visa, etc.

I've read the reviews on here as I am also going to have Washington Dulles as my POE - the reviews have been a great help for me along with the reviews of the embassy in London.

Although for me the process has been fairly quick to date it has definately been stressful and I guess it won't stop being stressful until AOS has been approved. It's a horrible thought that you can go through all this to then get denied entry.

Its natural to be nervous, but you really have nothing to worry about. Just follow the guides. They aren't going to deny you entry when you've been granted a visa after months of k1 processing, background checks, interviews, medical, etc unless you've given them a very good reason - most people turning up are on ESTA and have none of that and they get in.

By comparison to the K1 process, AoS is easy (well it was for me). Plus by that point you're married to the love of your life, and living together.
