Oath cermony date

My wife passed the citizenship interview and we r waiting for the cermony date for the oath but she got an emergency and have to leave the country next week before the cermony , my question is will it be ok if we reschedule it or that will complicate things and if she goes to the oath cermony they will take her greencard from her and will have to wait another 2 weeks to get the american passport not sure what to do ,

Appreciate any info or advice

Yes, you can reschedule it.

Yes, it will complicate things... obviously attending the ceremony is less complicated than waiting for the letter, sending it back with an explanation of the emergency, requesting a new date, waiting for a new letter, and hoping it doesn't take months. But don't worry about this, people request new oath dates often... You just need to make sure you get the letter and return it with an explanation.

Yes, they'll take her green card at the ceremony.

Yes, she'll need a U.S. Passport to travel after the ceremony. But if you are near a passport agency, you can get a passport within one or two days if you have proof of travel. Google Regional Passport Agencies.

You can also call or make an Infopass appointment and tell them about the emergency and ask that she not be scheduled for an oath before she returns.
