please i need to know if i can apply for SSN before AOS, i just got married on k1 visa and i want to apply for job but they need my SSN, also my i-94 is still valid till May 16, please i need more info on this part, thanks

hi

yes you can, but for a job you need an EAD, so really you can't work until you adjust status and receive your EAD

the SSN is only one of the requirements, the other is that you have to be eligible legally to work, that's why you need the EAD work permit that's filed with the adjustment of status packet after marriage

There are other things a person can do besides working with a SSN (to make things easier) like investments, insursnces, start establishing credit, get in some places easier.everyone's circumstances aren't the same.

Not all jobs hire immediately. He may have a hook up where someone or a company will hold a job for him until this authorization arrives. Teachers, specifically, are applying for jobs now for next school year. Some jobs take months to hire from an application
