Well you certainly can't say that April filers don't have their share of drama! Da&De at least you have the answer. The worst thing would have been the not knowing! Sounds like you have an easy fix though to get you going minus the time lost and additional cost in posting. Nice that your medical examiner is prepared to do a copy, for free? or a nominal fee?

I had a thought with all the misplaced documents lately that I best prepare just in case but have no idea if my doctor would give me a copy or how much they would charge!

You will be lonely on May board as no filers just yet haha

Well they didn't tell me anything about the fee... But I will definitely bring a box of sweets to the nurse that helped me there, she's amazing!

I will just submit the forms themselves and the docs required with them and that's it, no additional docs about our marriage

And yep, it's gonna be dead in May fillers so I won't leave you guys here without me anyway! Will be looking forward to hear great news about your applications!

One thing that posses me off is that they rejected my documents for nothing, cause I checked everything and I also scared them before submitting, so they probably just we're lazy to look everything through and decided to reject it straight away

If you have the chance to, still get another pair of eyes to review what you have just to be sure you have covered all bases. Easy to make the odd error and not spot it as you are the one completing the forms and gathering all the evidence.

Agreed with Blessboy ! DMV each branch is totally different. Here in Anaheim, CA, they told me after the second time trying to walk in for the driving permit license (just so I can start learning how to drive at this driving school which I have already paid for it long ago ?) Anyway they strictly need my SSN ?

You can get SSN, you just can't work without work authorization ;)

I have SSN and still wasn't allowed to renew my licence.. or change my name.
Apparently, according to the officer in SS office I need to have my new EAD with my new name (married name) since USCIS and SSN are linked. (My previous EAD was good for 2 months when I went there).

And then DMV needs your SSN to be updated since they are linked meaning that no licence. Yeeep. I should try again since there is loop holes but I'm kind of meeeh. Can't bother. Just hoping that time flies..... :)

They got mine the 18th and still no check cashed nor NOA1. Man, I'm getting frustrated. After this week I will call.

I'll tell you what

Call them today

And just ask what's going on, but be persistent

They may tell you that it's gonna be 30 days

But ask them to check your name in the system and tell that you"re worried cause you know about cases when people wasted their time waiting for 30 days to know that they have been rejected and blah-blah-blah

Don't waste additional days, you don't need it

It won't hurt to call

And, btw, the guy I talked to yesterday actually have me my case number

And I could check it online and it says that it was rejected

So even if you are rejected you may ask for your case number

Moreover they say that it usually takes up to 10 days to get NOA, so I think you should call and ask

Yup , i still have my ssc from when i worked in texas, but my maiden name is on it. When we got married , we tried to change my name on it, so i can get drivers license. Got denied because they want "proof of legal alien". So until i get the GC i wont be able to change my name on it and remove "valid for work only".

However, we will try again next week when we go to my husbands family. We will go to the dmv , taking marriage certificate and greencard folder incl. receipts and ask if they will give me the license. I already went to "school", took the test and got the certificate, which apparently was good enough for them to let me drive in japan for three years...

@Da&De what seem to be the problem why they sent back to you?

That i didn't sing my i-485

which is not true, cause i have the scans of everything i sent them and it IS signed.

I feel like crying now. cause i called the uscis today again and they told me that i have to put the rejection notice to the docs that i want to resubmit. when i asked them to send me a copy of the rejection notice, they told me that IT HAS NOT BEEN 30 DAYS SINCE THEY F-KING SENT IT for them to send a copy.

which is may 6, which is friday, and i was again told to wait and she was like "and you'd better call us back on monday, cause you may rceive the case friday evening and then the officer you will be speaking to on friday may just tell you to call back later on monday"

I told her that I already wasted two weeks because someone told me to wait until those 30 days pass since the time i filed the docs. and that i don't need her to tell me to call back and all i want is a COPY of the rejection notice.

She told me i have to wait once again

and i hang up after saying "this is how the government works"
