do you get a letter for biometrics before or after your NOA 1 when adjusting status?

Your noa hard copy can take a few weeks to come in the mail after receiving text/email (not everyone gets the email/txts). People typically get there noa first in the mail before there bio... If your bio appointment came and you don't have your noa yet call Uscis explain to them your situation that you got your bio appointment but haven't got your receipt number yet they should be able to tell you your case number or resend your noa in the mail (it probably got lost in the mail the first time round) Edited May 2, 2016 by Moslund

Usually you get your NOA first and then the biometrics

Word of advice and to save your sanity, chill a little as you are going to come up against a lot of procedural events yet and lots if waiting too. You'll blow a gasket as you're only at the initial stages! ???

You get the NOA 1 first that is a reciept notice. Then they schedule ur biometrics. If you sent check or money ordervdid they cash it ? That will tell you they have started to work on ur case.

So figured out what the issue was with my I-864..

I had reviewed my form umpteen times before sending off the package and corrected all my errors etc..

Little did I realise that on page 12 (Part 11) the name of the petitioner comes up for Q1a-c. As we had no additional information to send off with the form I "tidied up" the paperwork and deleted the name from this page. What I didn't realise is deleting it there also deletes it automatically from Part 4 on page 3 which is why I received the RFIE as it was submitted blank for that section.

I didn't realise that so my last minute tidy up before printing the final version of the form cost me.

This should probably go on a board where people are still preparing their paperwork so others don't make that same mistake but I thought I would share anyway.

Yes your noa is the receipt of application.. Usually starts with MSC or something

When you file your AOS, USCIS will send you a notice of reciept called NOA1 giving u your case number and Alien registration number. It is letting yiu knw they recievd your case and its in the process of being filed

For all my april filers who are having trouble viewing their cases online, I just called USCIS and spoke with a tier 2 IO was told that the system is down . They do have your info if you have recieved ab NOA1 . I havent recieved a biometrics as yet.

So when you saying "viewing their cases online" do you mean for those the status hasn't changed forever!! My application has reached since the end of March and I think it is almost 32 days since they have received my package( check out my timeline below)...average time frame for the biometric appointment is around 25 days and no change in status no letter....I am hoping I am not one of those stuck in that system down thing and surely not going crazy then coz I have been checking my status like its an 8 hour shift!!

Update ☺️ I just received the biometric appointment letter this morning.

Da&D - I think you will receive your package back pretty soon. In my case, It took me over the month to got it back from Chicago (rejected because improper filing) I sent them a request online too but it was too long time until they get back to you. Just try to relax ? I was super stressed back there too.

And FYI, even now that I received the Bio appointment already, I still can't check my case on their website or on the app. ✌️

The computer system is down thats why you cant check cases online.
