Hey all, new here (well, new to AOS, not VJ).

Couple of questions-- how do I get the "spoiler" icon to hide my K1 timeline in my signature? I'd like to keep it available but it's not really necessary now.

Second question-- Just from reading a bit, I'm seeing that it's about 2 weeks to NOA1 for AOS these days? Is that correct? We shipped FedEx on 4/16, got the confirmation from FedEx that it was delivered 4/20. I was just starting to get nervous but looking at some timelines here that may be normal-- right?

Marriage/ AOS Timeline:

23 Dec 2015: Legal marriage

23 Jan 2016: Wedding!

23 Jan 2016: "Blizzard of the Century", wedding canceled/rescheduled (thank goodness we were legally married first or we'd have had a big problem!) :sleepy:

24 Jan 2016: Small "civil ceremony" with friends and family who were snowed in with us. December was a bit of a secret and people had traveled internationally and knew we *had* to get married that weekend, and our December legal marriage was nothing but signing a piece of paper at our priest's kitchen table, without any sort of vows etc so this was actually a very special (if not legally significant) day. (L)

16 Apr 2016: Filed for AOS and EAD/AP (We delayed a bit-- no big rush, enjoying the USCIS break)

23 Apr 2016: Wedding! Finally! :luv:

27 Apr 2016: Electronic NOA1 for all 3 :dancing:
29 Apr 2016: NOA1 Hardcopy for all 3
29 Jul 2016: Online service request for late EAD (Day 104)
29 Jul 2016: EAD/AP Approved ~3 hours after online service request
04 Aug 2016: RFE for Green Card (requested medicals/ vaccination record. They already have it). :ranting:
05 Aug 2016: EAD/AP Combo Card arrived! (Day 111)
08 Aug 2016: Congressional constituent request to get guidance on the RFE. Hoping they see they have the form and approve!

K-1 Visa Timeline:

PLEASE NOTE. This timeline was during the period of time when TSC was working on I-129fs and had a huge backlog. The average processing time was 210+ days. This is in no way predictive of your own timeline if you filed during or after April 2015, unless CSC develops a backlog. A backlog is anything above the 5-month goal time listed on USCIS's site

14 Feb 2015: Mailed I-129f to Dallas Lockbox. (L) (Most expensive Valentine's card I've ever sent!)

17 Feb 2015: NOA1 "Received Date"
19 Feb 2015: NOA1 Notice Date
08 Aug 2015: NOA2 email! :luv: (173 days from NOA1)

17 Aug 2015: Sent to NVC

?? Aug 2015: Arrived at NVC

25 Aug 2015: NVC Case # Assigned

31 Aug 2015: Left NVC for Consulate in San Jose

11 Sep 2015: Packet 3 emailed from embassy to me, the petitioner (34 days from NOA2).

18 Sep 2015: Medicals complete

21 Sep 2015: Packet 3 complete, my boss puts a temporary moratorium on all time off due to work emergency :clock:

Hey there!

I'm happy to be on the way to get my GC and EAD/AP card!!

I filed on April 15 and got the three NOAs on April 21. One problem though, is that I haven't been able to check the case status for any of the receipt numbers online. I get " My Case Status does not recognize the receipt number entered. Please check your receipt number and try again. If you need further assistance, please call the National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283."

I've read that it can take up to 45 days to appear online but I also saw that such a thing seldom happens and that mostly, the people in my situation were screwed. I saw that most people who didn't get to check their status online were unable to do so for the entirety of the process, so I guess I'll just wait and see what happens to me. I know it's not the end of the world if I can't check online, but it does give you a lot of peace of mind!.

I'm checking the mailbox almost daily to get the biometrics appointment! My husband is super busy with finals so I hope they schedule me on an easy date for him!!

I was also hoping to get a potential interview waiver sometime along the way, but unfortunately, the "juicy" evidence wasn't available at the time when we sent the package, so I'll probably just have to do the interview and hope we get someone who doesn't pick on us for no good reason.

I wish everyone an uneventful and easy process :goofy:

What type of information/evidence would waiver the interview? I never thought certain evidence would exempt you from the interview... I'm just curious apparently I missed memo lol I've not heard anything as of yet and mine was filed on the 8th so I'm hoping I fell into that category

Also the case number can take a few weeks to work on the website

Ahh okie so anyone who files for aos from a k1 has the chance of it being waived and it's not so much based on how much evidence you send... I'm still holding out hope that since I've not heard anything that may be me haha married 6years have a child together filed taxes together for 5years have multiple financial accounts dating back 6years - I can only pray they waive my interview

well ok, I've read that sometimes people get these "Notice of Potential Interview Waiver Case" letters. that means that they may or may not waiver it. I know that you can get them because the offices have a heavy workload or something, but I'm pretty sure that in those cases they send these letters to people who sent front-loaded packages and have enough evidence in them to get approved without the interview. I wouldn't imagine the USCIS trying to expedite things with people they can't yet "fully trust". Also, I am not sure that it expedites your approval of the GC, it just skips you the interview, which is great anyway.

I am not 100% that there is causation between front-loaded packages and interview waivers, but there's definitely correlation. I was hoping to be able to send more evidence of co-mingling of finances, apartment lease under both our names and other bills, but sadly we did some of that stuff just now and we were only able to send pictures of our relationship from beginning to current times + wedding pictures + joint bank account.

I am an extremely late filler I entered the USA in January 2010 got married fen 2010 my visa expired mid 2010 (I became out of status)... I approached a lawyer cause I went into panic mode I got here after 5years long distance relationship we enjoying life being together and before we know it things expired... Anyway I talked to a lawyer they said as long as you get married within the 90days your fine just do not file for your AOS until I am back in status... We were saving to file the aos I got pregnant so aos got put off I have the baby then I went to start saving again for aos then we had some major medical expenses come up for my husband and before we knew it its 6years later... We filed via a lawyer cause my I had an additional sheet to file to put me back in status and to make sure everything was how it should be since so much time has past... Even tho my visa expired because I got married within the 90days I didn't break any immigration laws and I was legally aloud to stay here

The K-1 visa expires at POE, then you have the I-94, which has I believe 90 days. You are out of status, but not here illegally. Without EAD can't work and without AP can't come back in US if one leaves. Just some info. Congrats on finally submitting your AOS.

I know I was out of status but there I additional paperwork you file that out your back in status of you I-94 expires and that needs to be filed before your AOS can be filed which is what my lawyer done... Although the my I-94 is expired I have official documentation that replaces the I-94 that has out my back in status... My immigration lawyer has gave me the ins and outs of my situation and yes I know I can't work that's why I've been a stay at home mom for all these years
